Government should know better than leaving explenation to those who have conflict of interests. I'm pretty sure most of those fools where tricked into changing gender by smooth talk. Couse no one bluntly told them that once you cut off your balls you will never get them back, but you not gonna be real woman either and no man will love you. I do believe in freedom though, just educate masses.

Gender reassignment should be banned to be conducted by doctors no matter what age. It’s immoral and unethical.
@alunjones3860 Says:
I don't think that doctors should do anything to a willing patient, with absolutely no consequences. They have a duty of care and have to apply by the Hippocratic Oath. Perhaps there should be no actual against it, just that if the medical procedure is known to be harmful and lacks any benefit, then the patient can sue the doctor if they change their mind for whatever reason. That should be enough to deter the majority of doctors.
@alunjones3860 Says:
It's similar to lobotomy, blood letting and other forms of genital mutilation.

The conservative position is NOT that virtue should be enforced by law. The argument is that some things are damaging to the person and to society, and to protect both, they should not be allowed. Assisted suicide is a good example. I oppose it not because I want people to be good, but because allowing such a practice is damaging to the dignity of the individual and humanity as a whole. It is mere hubris to assume that we have the right to take the life of an innocent man, even with his consent
@fastkicksdefendhead Says:
I would say part of this depends on our Rational Self vs our Emotional Self, the current me vs the future me, for some the addicted me vs the sober me, the worst me vs the best me. When there is differences enough between the two then there needs to be a slowdown of what is happening and sometimes asking for an intervention like gamblers asking to be prevented from gambling in certain states, this is were a person in their rational state recognizes they have a problem and asks for help when they enter an addicted state. With regards to suicide due to medical reasons: there is also the weaker version do not provide medical care like life support, experimental medicine (will most likely fail but it can help others). For emotional health suicide, an intervention should at the minimum be attempted first. For Gender Affirming Care, at least according the Cass Review, the confirmed benefits are lacking compared to the perceived benefits. At a minimum, the government/health care organizations should require that Gender Affirming Care be clear on what benefits are confirmed, which ones are being studied (and what studies those are), and which ones have no evidence backing them up. This will allow people to be able to give informed consent. Similar to obese people needing counseling before getting a weight loss surgery, counseling should also be required. This will filter out those who issue can be solved in a non surgical manner. Also, just doing the surgery will not magically transform the person's mental state. Additionally, until solid evidence has been built up on gender affirming care, all patients should be monitored from time to time so that the benefits and costs can be better understood. My general view is that the more well understood something is the easier it will be to get agreement and based on what I have seen I think it is 80% likely that more restrictions will be needed on Gender Affirming Care at least from what is coming out of the Cass Review.

Hi. From western Canada May 1 wed. 630pm mountain time. My brother I his mid 30 s in the forces since 18 married left forces left before he got his upcoming army pension when t o London with wife and got into the sex scene there Suddenly he phones me to say he is getting a sex change he would not consider any discussion I pleaded with him not to tell our recently widowed mother before Xmas but he did anyway all this on the phone at Xmas So. Big fallout at Xmas in my house on the prairie as mom comes here from Atlantic Canada as new widow Brother far away in london uk Regarding knock your socks off it does not effect anyone else. Misquoting here. Well it sure as hell effected our lives that Xmas trying explaining this to young pre teen my son while my mom hysterically wonders loudly why what did she did wrong. Note Irish Catholics Further when he was finished about 2 yrs at lots of mandatory psychotherapy in Uk before surgery in Quebec for top bottom and facial surgeries. Who payed. Money 💰 I don’t know. You should show graphic pictures of double mastectomies and castration of both penis and scrotum because some may not do scrotum As an aside as 4 yr student nurse our team did a presentation on mastectomy which included this patient who volunteered to show what her chest looked like post op it is like raw butchered meat however before we could stop before she was even introduced she stood in front of the presentation table and quickly pulled up her sweater exposing her red raw chest. Even at that point of nsg training one nsg student fainted and many retched some even vomited Note the patient was a students mother and wanted to do this once she was aware of the topic her daughter was presenting. I think based on Mr JP comment on not using top or bottom I agree. USE and SHOW via pictures of the post op skin at certain times post surgery. Initial post op day. Day1. To whenever date USE the Words double mastectomy and castration. Because Top surgery is not on written under type of surgery but double mastectomy but Ck that please in case the surgeons are using non medical term Top. Heaven knows Again NOTE Mr JP It does not just effect the him who becomes her. But to his children who. Saw him as what. How about his ex wife and my child who saw him as an uncle Lastly he died suddenly in a traffic accident in Ontario were he had gone to find work. He could not go home to the island to find work because he was now a she so his body is brought back to the island for burial. Can you image telling your relatives etc who came to the visitation a version of this story plus I had the job to call his ex wife on the mainland that her husband was dead that he died in car crash but wait please sit down. He transgendered. He became a women After she could talk to me she made it clear that 8 yrs married no monkey business happened in the bedroom and her next response. Was what am I going to tell the children. So YES. Becoming transgendered has a horrendous effect on many many people What do you think his teenage children thought The Action EFFECTS Everyone not just himself I just want you to know that plus Note The brain didn’t change from him being a man then a woman. He was the same character and personality. A SELFISH NARCISSISTIC whether he was a boy or a girl whether he was a man or a women Thx for reading this JP and excuse computer and spelling mistakes as I am an old disabled retired BN RN

Actual gender affirming care would be a poster in the doctor's office that says something to the effect of: "Sequential hermaphroditism does not exist in mammals. If you are reading this, you are a mammal."

So the fellow in the r middle wants to eradicate the mental health profession and all mental health treatments. By opening the door to allowing people to have themselves mutilated, to starve themselves to death, to have their own arms, legs or genitalia amputated…,,, and to kill themselves as a result of chronic depression or trauma or untreated disorders such as autism or schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Wow.., what an insane; “madman” nightmarish world we would live in.
@LW-Isaiah40-60 Says:
There are people who have life threatening illness that cannot pay for their own care because their deductibles and copays are too high. Theres limited money to spend on healthcare. Let the sex change people pay for their own operation and hormones. Its cosmetic, not medically necessary. You may have an operation to make you cosmetically look like the opposite sex, but you will truly never be the opposite sex. Insurance doesnt pay for cosmetic surgery, so why the exception? Why not help people with life threatening illnesses instead? If I have a tooth abscess and cannot pay for extractions and dentures...probably go septic and die...but insurance wont pay for it because its dental, not medical, but the dental only pays 1500 a year. But your paying for someones sex change? Does this make sense? Or the woman who needs post menopause hormones but insurance wont pay for her, but will for sex change people. Too many double standards. How about paying for a couple physical therapy visits for super healthy people for prevention? They pay thousands for health insurance premiums and get nothing in return. We need an overhaul of our healthcare system.

@trleith Says:
The medical profession gave up professionalism around the end of WWII and the Federal Government (USA) sort of forced it by denying the AMA any power to regulate at least individual doctors. So it fell to the states to do some of the disciplinary functions formerly done by The Guild, but not all of them, not very well, and only in the most egregious of the egregious cases. Liberalism means there are no social standards, the only thing that matters is "consent". It's a dead end.
@russellsacks3854 Says:
My problem with letting adults do what they want with their body is the responsibility that comes along with the consequences. We aren't 100% in either direction on this. We let people smoke, drink, have unprotected sex, eat poorly, and repel of cliffs or skydive and if someone ends up sick or disabled as a result we don't force them to starve in the street if they can't afford to pay for their care. We let people make poor choices and end up homeless and then we take care if them. Do we want to draw a line at any point and say that if you do this or that stupid thing then the cost of the consequences is 100% on you or do we want to keep things the way they are? I like the freedom of eating a cheese burger or riding a bike without a helmet around the neighborhood and sometimes I don't take take perfect care of myself and wouldn't want a government forcing me to do so or saying that I am not deserving of future help since I failed to eat my veggies last night. As our society finds more stupid ways for people to get messed up the cost on the rest of us will become so burdensome as to eventually collapse the system and force us to either forbid any such stupidity or to allow it but to take away any assistance for those that choose to be stupid. I get the feeling that freedoms would go rather than the assistance.

How can the government fund assisted suicide? They’re burdening remaining citizens with the cost of the persons comfort while ending their life

I have no duty to provide institutions for others to go and mutilate themselves according to their psychosis. I don't have to turn Canada into 18th century France because someone's uncle thinks he's Napoleon. The Canadian fascist state will now murder us to save money. Pardy would be right if he lived alone in the cosmos. He doesn't.

Hormones could be made available over the counter for adults. No need for a doctor's prescription. People who want to change the way their bodies look already know what they want and won't take no for an answer. They don't want doctors trying to talk them out of it. So what value are doctors adding to the process?
@jag92949 Says:
Absolutely not. I support a complete ban nowadays.
@pookatim Says:
I take exception to allowing anyone, with surgical procedures or hormone therapy or not, to change their "gender". No one should be permitted to change the gender on their official Identification records from one gender to the other. If need be, then a kind of certification notice that said person is now "trans-gender" could be allowed but they cannot benefit from it or participate in sports or contests of any kind specific to males or females.

stop sterilizing gay kids. its no different than a castrati in the old timey days. you are not going to become a real woman, you are just a eunuch. trans ideologies are delusional. drag story time is poor taste, club kids are bad role models for young children. the transitioning of children often feels like a parent having their own gay conversion solution. parents who want to control their kids sex drives and deny them an adult libido with the use ssri's and puberty blockers, this is all sickening overreach and over diagnosis. just let kids be gay, they don't need treatment.
@PaxMundi118 Says:
No "sex-changes" for anyone.
@kernelscout3077 Says:
i dont think anyone, adult or otherwise should have the right to permanently mutilate and sterilize their body, or seek assisted suicide unless its in a case where the person is medically brain dead and someone takes them off life support. we don't tell schizophrenic people to listen to the voices in their head, why should allow gender dysphoric people, people who have a legit mental illness, to alter their bodies? we have to beat mental illness with therapy, not telling them to listen to the voices in their head. this plague will only get worse if we affirm any mental illness. these people are disturbed and need help.

Enforced virtue, a lot of what *_got us here in the first place_* so I don't see that as unreasonable. *Incentives and disincentives* , humans have proven that without it they will just fall on their basic instinct which is incongruent with a stable and thriving society, let alone _human developmental progress_ But if you wanna do what you want, fine, but _nobody_ should be compelled or forced to support it financially or otherwise.
@thebdceigal Says:
The fact that we have to debate this is problematic itself. If you’re an adult and want to pay for your own surgery do as you want. The publicly funded medical system is not here to mutilate your genitalia. It’s here to deal with real health problems.
