????

Dr. Peterson's extensive catalog is available now on DailyWire+: https://utm.io/ueSXh Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Andrew Huberman discuss neurology, the way humans and animals react to specific stimuli, and how this knowledge can be utilized for personal growth. Dr. Andrew Huberman is a neuroscientist, and tenured professor in the department of neurobiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He runs the Huberman Lab, which has made significant contributions to the fields of brain development, brain function and neural plasticity. Dr. Huberman's most recent work revolves around the influence of vision and respiration on human performance and brain states such as fear and courage. In 2017, he was chosen to receive the Cogan award, which is awarded to the scientist making the most significant discoveries in the study of vision. Work from the Huberman Laboratory has been published in top journals including Nature, Science, and Cell and has been featured in TIME, BBC, Scientific American, Discover, and other top media outlets. In 2021, Dr. Huberman launched the Huberman Lab Podcast, and has since grown to over 1.5 million subscribers. ______________________________________________________________________ Links For Andrew Huberman Instagram https://www.instagram.com/hubermanlab/?hl=en Twitter https://twitter.com/hubermanlab?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor Website https://hubermanlab.com/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2D2CMWXMOVWx7giW1n3LIg Chapters (0:00) Coming Up (0:57) Intro (3:18) Where anxiety stems from (11:57) Flipping the autonomic response (23:10) Power of the prefrontal cortex (30:00) Accessing our alternate selves (36:25) When you stimulate the Insular cortex (42:08) The one true world currency (46:38) Dopamine's pleasure derives from anticipation (50:10) Depressive cascades (54:12) Assess errors by state, not trait (1:01:45) Dopamine chases outer stimuli (1:04:13) Can new stimuli rewrite our neural pathways? Thank you Dr Peterson (& team) for hosting me to discuss the neuroscience of dopamine regulation, habit and rule setting, decision making & more. Grateful for your many insights and questions!

Question: if one uses meditation to regularily calm the mind (eg in order to sleep or mitigate confrontational behaviour), does it have any lasting effects on suppressing creativity? Any correlation ?

I absolutely love both of you separately but this podcast found me by pure happy circumstance! I have listened to the pair of you separately so having you 2 together and learning from both of my favorite scientists, is an absolute thrill!!! Next time, have Mayim Bialik and Andrew Huberman together! They are mind blowing together as well! Andrew is featured on the Bialik Breakdown podcast and it’s so informative!!

Love Jordan 95%, but it’s infuriating when he decides to interrupt his guests at their high points. Is this some narcissistic dominance thing? It would be far more uplifting to his guest & his viewers to allow the person to complete their thought & wait to add his comments. What comes across to me is “My intellect is superior, therefore I can trample over you at will.” Nutshell- Disrespect.
@zacharyhuff3766 Says:
i have to wonder, if im stacking dopaminergic goals one after another based on the dopamine from the past goal obtained , the same way i used to when i was an alcoholic. are those goals being sought after in a healthy way?
@VictoriaMJackson Says:
I just realized Dr Andrew's last name is almost "Ubermensch"..
@Tab-f9t Says:
As a neuroscientist I wonder why Andrew doesn't challenge JBP's lobster theory, unless I somehow missed that part. I've read countless cases by neuroscientiests shutting down his correlation between lobsters and human hierarchies based on JP's claims that we are related and behave the same because we have seritonin. Yet, the missing components other than putting your own thoughts into a lobsters mind, is that lobster and human brains are completely different and seritonin works differently in different brain regions that lobsters don't even have. You would have to assume lobsters have egos and are self-conscious before you start comparing the 2.

Huberman is such an ass. He’s so dumb. All he does is pretend to know things when he has no clue about most. He plays smart. It’s actually disappointing that pedersen had him on. I would think Peterson could see through this fool. Next to Peterson this guy is like a two year old
@alaskachronicles6286 Says:
What an episode. Thank you ✨

“I wasnt consulted at the design stage”! XD I think there was a memo.

This is really good, if you understand.
@TheGazaMethodChannel Says:
So what comes to my mind is one of the reasons people have trouble leaving cults—once they realize, is they have to kill off that persona AND they have to replace it. Second thought is the odd findings Dr. Michael Gregor points out that chicken consumption can increase anxiety. What and how is that triggering.
@TheQueenOfDreams Says:
Two of my favorite minds, in one podcast? Yes, please! ❤❤
@PhilippBoettcher Says:
Is the Dopamine System activated, when we are about to sneeze? I am serious. Is it not the most dissapointing feeling, when you are about to sneeze but then you do not? 45:27

We are so fortunate to have access to such brilliant minds working together. The depth of knowledge you both share is incredible, and I wish there were no limits to how much I could express my appreciation for it.

@ms.altareb9935 Says:
Andrew Huberman was interrupted so many times!!
@doogiedoesyoutubable Says:
These two are like humanized mice. Two hours of useless talk. Take a pill. Jupiter and Stupider should look at self rather than judging others. Authoritism is belittling others lol What bothers me is what people like you think
@kg6190 Says:
We are beyond blessed to have there two individuals and able to witness their greatness. Absolutely beautiful minds. Thank you kindly for this, look forward to your other podcast together. ❤

@AbbasSalahshour Says:
One of the most fruitful, fulfilling and profoundly satisfying discussions I have seen thus far and it really shed light on some of the less explored topics and questions I could not really find or engineer an answer to, eliciting professional assistance from experts. I love the bridge you established between clinical psychology and neuroscience and what a fascinating view it provides to observe ourselves at first and others by extension while standing voluntarily on that bridge and objectively viewing what is happening. Thank you so much for all that!
@Thregh Says:
The one time when Peterson had someone to talk with at the same level as him, when he was there to learn, not to teach.

@luisdiegosalas Says:
35:15 - I think that is what Bruce Ecker calls transformational change through the mechanism of memory reconsolidation. It implies a change of perspective (a series of prediction errors when the target learning is labile). Also a lot of what you mention regarding the brain playing through scenarios reminds me about Lisa Feldman's hypothesis of Constructed Emotions and the principle of allostasis (instead of homeostasis).
@buggy89 Says:
1:30:37 - micro wins
@alrightsky Says:
this was so interesting
@papichampagnio Says:
Omg, what is he going to say now? "AIR IS HARMFUL TO YOUR BRAIN" or some shit?!?
@dcoombs2003 Says:
"You stated it far more clearly and succinctly than I've heard it stated before" is pretty representative of the responses experts give when Peterson says something about their field.
