What you are describing in Toronto is 100x worse in London, UK: ULEZ, congestion charge, traffic filters, low traffic neighbourhoods, 5 minute cities, fines for drifting into a bus lane, random roads have random times you're not allowed to drive on (instant fine), 20mph speed limit in ALL of central London, etc, etc, etc - London is undrivable and public transport is unusable outside of zone 3 (I'm in zone 6). It's the total destruction of freedom of movement. I'm so disillusioned by this and other "green" policies that have bankrupted the country, I'm moving to Australia. Our energy now is 35p/kWh, in Ukraine it is 3p and we aren't reliant on Russian gas - it's the religious obsession with being "green".
@iknovate Says:
Focus on homelessness starts 32:15. The words from Jordan are brilliant. That section needs it's own clip distributed widely.
@sabrinarincon1068 Says:
Agreed with many of Anthony Furey's points on many issues more than I thought I would. His idea on suing metrolinx is really bold but I like the concept behind it of bringing back accountability. The bike lanes conversation I found to be a stretch - it's not climate activism for 99% of people. Most that ride bikes do it to simply to get around because of the very problems they mentioned with vehicle transportation and transit. Also it can make sense to put bike lanes on arterial Roads as these provide connections to transit and other destinations through the most direct routes. Having large volumes of cyclists compete with vehicles that are moving fast and without physical protection is not a good road safety policy. And to call the barriers that protect the bike lanes totalitarian is ludicrous just look at the ones on Richmond and Adelaide that have been painted by local artists. Despite the bike lane conversation, I think he's a breath of fresh air and I hope he runs again as I think he's a strong candidate in the future.

@Metaknight251 Says:
I would disagree on the whole removal of bike lanes on major cities, and I would rather push the narrative towards reliable and safe public transportation. The city wouldn't be so congested if the TTC (and other district ran buses) was a better alternative to using cars. There's way too many people downtown who are driving large cars, only to be a single person in the vehicle. I think that's completely inefficient, and while it's easier to say that cars are the best option we have to get around, construction and zoning laws run rampant in the city and allow construction companies to block major roads much more disruptively than bike lanes. Maybe, instead, hold construction companies accountable (and quite frankly stop putting up with the bullshit of unions) that way we can actually have roads that are necessary for more accessible for business and service vehicles, not for more single occupant cars taking up space. Also, I shouldn't even have to mention the massive health benefits of biking. Forget about going green, because let's be honest, large corporations need to take more of a step of going green than the average person. There's no excuse, even in the dead of winter, to not bike. There's pictures in the early 1900s in Canada of people biking in snow. Many people in other countries will still also bike in snow, such as Finland (NotJustBikes has a great video on why Canadians don't bike but Finnish people can). Jordan has this idea that people who bike regularly are in their mid 20s to 30s, yet I see elderly in the Netherlands, Finland, and even some parts of Asia still riding bikes. Hell, the Philippines has passenger bikes that people pay the biker to get them around in their neighborhoods. In these times of online work and working from home, we as a society don't exercise enough already. I use the city bikes in Toronto everywhere I go if it's more than a block, and I've even seen bigger men who weigh well over 200 that can bike even faster than me. Not biking around a city is a poor practice of the lazy and unfit.

A well-spoken, reasonable person. So refreshing. I wish him the best on his campaign from Olympia, Washington. We are putting boulders along I-5 to depopulate the freeway. Beautification never looked so rock-solid.

Demonising cyclists! From you, JP! I am surprised at you going for this low hanging fruit. If you are anti cycling lets make the playing field fair in that case; remove the bodywork from cars and see how safe you feel then.

You are such beautiful people!! I pray for you guys and your Families!! Thank You for always giving the real people intellectual and real conversation. We the people appreciate it so much!! And fyi Jordan I love your ties!! And a question... Why is nobody ever talking about dismantling and getting rid of the World Economic Forum as that is where I think majority of these issues across THE WORLD are coming from this World Dictatorship. But I never hear anyone really talk about this. Why?
@baahcusegamer4530 Says:
The frustration of urban planning is how we have made ourselves dependent on cars without providing affordable, cleaner alternatives. Pre-1950s, we most people could go anywhere they needed by foot or take a tram where they couldn’t walk. Mixed zoning will help that. We need cleaner, more frequent public transportation, not less. We need less traffic on the streets. Not more. And the insanity of things is COVID-19 proved many of us could work from home, but we still insist on making folks go back into costly, lengthy, and dangerous daily commutes. There is a middle ground where we can meet. Why can’t we seem to get there?
@E33Tpro Says:
People insisting on using their Victorian relics to get around instead of walking, driving or using public transport is nothing but a major nuisance and a danger to society, non of them follow the road rules and most of them doesn't even ride with their eyes and ears open.
@estavoratrelundar Says:
I voted for him... unfortunately, Chow who is basically a Commie, won. Didn't listen to this when the election was still running, but I've heard of him and knew he has a good head on him (which is why I voted for him).
@Thankyou111 Says:
The injection sights are practically begging politicians to first open the recovery centers etc, and then to please leave the injection sites a reason to close their own doors 🤷.
@freethebirds3578 Says:
My husband rides a bike or walks to work, and it has nothing to do with saving the planet. He doesn't drive a car because we can't afford a 2nd car, and we can't afford to live near my workplace.

Guess what Montreal has? Bike lanes. More extensive and fortified than Toronto.
@MsFreudianSlip Says:
They are sooo right about the bike lanes, they did all of the set up while everyone was locked at home during covid lockdowns and when they let us out it looked like an uglier city.. the concrete barriers and plastic markers are soooo ugly... and there are no bikes on those lanes, maybe 1 bike per every 3 times I drive by... and traffic is backed up because everything is now 1 lane each direction, so now there are more emissions. Makes zero sense
@goofytiger Says:
This guy will be mayor tomorrow! Thank you! Remove Olivia chow. She is a Reno establishment and increasing property tax.
@michelleb430 Says:

Let's be 100% clear. This situation of every Canadian city. I've lived in both Kamloops and Edmonton recently. Same there. I heard people from Kelowna to Halifax Winnipeg say the same stuff. Kelowna, Vancouver, Kamloops all elected mayor's in one month period that overthrew the woke mayor's and brought in the opposite. I expect this will be a wave across the country. I don't want to say outright what the cause of all the decay was but I'd say most of the progressive policies have been directly to blame but tell me if I'm wrong. I know every time they put up a safe injection site or buy a old hotel for homeless crowd the whole area shortly after goes to hell in a hand basket.
@valerieirvin249 Says:
Obviously, drugs = crime ? Some of the most dangerous people on the planet aren't living on the streets, homeless & drug addicted. The ones that are the worst criminals/ most criminal, are the ones holding the gun to the "addicts head" , the supplier who most likely isn't a user but " collector of cash" Maybe that's why Pres Trump said, " these are the ones who may receive the death penalty." Will end it there. 🧐🤔⚖️🦅⚖️
@markcampbell7577 Says:
It is a tenet of epidemiology not to use quarantine or testing hysteria or forced vaccination. There wasn't one country we heard of that would behave in the normal professional response to the epidemic.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
4xr 4XR 4 XR 4XR one equals one . Normal business practices are required in wages too. One week's pay is equal to one months rent for one bedroom apartment local commute enforced correctly locally by police and welfare departments. This is not a homeless wage anywhere. This is not a transient wage anywhere.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
The key to law and order or public safety is wages that are a living local for every job. Nobody can hire people who live in mom's house or grandmas house and claim they are hiring an adult children of alcoholics.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
Why not every job is a living local???
@markcampbell7577 Says:
Raise the entire boat to get the people off the streets and drug use will decline overtime. Wages and education so that people can work for a living local commute. Children who spoke to the soldiers guarding bin Laden's camp in Afghanistan were held without hearing or trial in Guantanamo Bay Cuba to this day.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
Can we convince the Congress of the USA to identify fentanyl as a controlled substance list so that China can shutdown american fentanyl factories in China.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
The wage structure is too low to support restaurants and delicatessens.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
Best business practices to the minimum wage standard is not a transient wage or homeless wage but the legal minimum wage under the minimum wage act and one weeks pay is equal to one months rent for one bedroom apartment local commute or someone is charged with a felony by local police and welfare departments.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
I'll trade you bike lanes for Edison generator or battery powered dynamo powered electric cars trucks trains airplanes helicopters and ships. Toady.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
Poverty is so great that people can't afford to use public transportation or register their vehicle.
@markcampbell7577 Says:
The basics of society are missing and that is why you have drug dealing and homeless population across the country. Neither of these problems can be addressed normally in terms of wages and education.because words have to be written or spoken and the actions taken. We are not paying every person at least enough to reliably pay the rent for one bedroom apartment local commute enforced correctly locally by police and welfare departments rightfully equal to the normal business practices for property managers and landlords. The minimum wage act demands that wages are not transient wages or homeless wages but equal to living local commute. This amount based on normal good business practices is one week's pay is equal to one months rent for one bedroom apartment local commute to reliably pay the rent and is a legal minimum wage for every job. The use of homework in elementary school is a known cause of illiteracy euphemistically mentioned as classroom disparity.. This unprofessional teaching method has to regarded as criminal teaching method because it is so certainly damaging to the education of children. These two changes would have dramatic improvement for children and young people.
@bradleycollins2858 Says:
This guy clearly hasn’t the slightest clue about what harm reduction is and why it works. No one has ever died at an injection sight from an overdose anywhere. Those people also get sober faster and more often than those who do not use those sites. These are things that I discovered in one research paper in grad school. A five minute Google search will tell you everything you need to know. As much as I am a fan of Dr. Peterson, he really spoke from a place of bias when describing homeless people suffering from substance use disorders. It is not enabling. It gets people in touch with resources and nearly all of them end up doing better due to those injection sites. It doesn’t mean they are all going to get sober right away but the evidence is incontrovertible.

The sad thing about the bike lanes thing is that there are examples of places with severe winter that also have useful bicycle routes with high ridership AND are accessible by car. Instead of looking at the success stories, bicycle gutters on mega roads are the only thing they consider.
