Truth and Adventure as an Antidote to Suffering | Douglas Murray | EP 376

????

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Douglas Murray, author of 'The War on The West,' discuss how a misguided purpose leads to abject misery, the cowardice of experts who choose silence in the face of malevolence, the psychology of fear, and the necessity of willful exposure to combat it. ??Douglas Murray is a British writer, playwright, media correspondent and political commentator. He is the founder of the think tank the Centre for Social Cohesion, which is now part of the Henry Jackson Society. His publications include but are not limited to: 'The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity, Islam (2017),' 'The Madness of Crowds: Gender, Race and Identity (2019),' and most recently 'The War on the West: How to Prevail in the Age of Unreason (2022)'. Murray has also written columns for publications such as 'The Wall Street Journal' and is an associate editor for 'The Spectator.' This is simply brilliant on countless fronts. As much as I admire Dr. Peterson, I wish he would allow the profound to have its moment and let it breathe for just a moment, instead of hastily getting on with the next observation that came to mind 30 seconds ago… almost in a dismissive way. Don’t get me wrong, I truly appreciate all that he has to offer, I just find myself having those thoughts when someone as insightful as Mr. Murray is speaking.

This is why society is prone to meltdowns these days. They are not being taught to face their fears and insecurities. , but are being enabled. When they get to boiling point, they commit suicide or shoot up schools or badly bully others Thank you Jordan and Douglas. So extremely interesting.

The Auchvitwtz problem isnt that thorny. Many were deeply disturbed by what they saw, but soldiers are trained to obey and Germans, in particular, are brought up to respect authority. The accounts of the guards indicate many of them drank heavily to escape their consciences and the daily reality. Some of them abandoned their posts or got themselves transferred out. A few even defected and fought for the Allies. And, as always, sadistic scenarios attract sadists, so many of the guards were right at home.

The poet TS Elliot in his poem "choruses from the Rock" It is well worth reading the whole poem because it covers much that Jordan and Douglas discuss. Here is the end: "And the Church must be forever building, and always decaying, and always being restored. For every ill deed in the past we suffer the consequence: For sloth, for avarice, gluttony, neglect of the Word of GOD , For pride, for lechery, treachery, for every act of sin. And of all that was done that was good, you have the inheritance. For good and ill deeds belong to a man alone, when he stands alone on the other side of death, But here upon earth you have the reward of the good and ill that was done by those who have gone before you. And all that is ill you may repair if you walk together in humble repentance, expiating the sins of your fathers; And all that was good you must fight to keep with hearts as devoted as those of your fathers who fought to gain it. The Church must be forever building, for it is forever decaying within and attacked from without; For this is the law of life; and you must remember that while there is time of prosperity The people will neglect the Temple, and in time of adversity they will decry it. What life have you if you have not life together? There is no life that is not in community, And no community not lived in praise of GOD . Even the anchorite who meditates alone, For whom the days and nights repeat the praise of GOD , Prays for the Church, the Body of Christ incarnate. And now you live dispersed on ribbon roads, And no man knows or cares who is his neighbour Unless his neighbour makes too much disturbance, But all dash to and fro in motor cars, Familiar with the roads and settled nowhere. Nor does the family even move about together, But every son would have his motor cycle, And daughters ride away on casual pillions. Much to cast down, much to build, much to restore; Let the work not delay, time and the arm not waste; Let the clay be dug from the pit, let the saw cut the stone, Let the fire not be quenched in the forge."

Judaism does not believe on Satan. We believe in Ha-Satan; not a rebelling angel, but an angel created by and working FOR God to test and convict men. The Lucifer mistranslation later on was referring to the King of Babylon.
