Don't expect the American Medical Association or the American Psychiatric association to ever accept this as valid no matter how much evidence you come up with. Can you imagine the money lost if mental illness can be cured with diet instead of pharmaceuticals?
@kobynmalone2134 Says:
I just finished undergrad biochemistries and have a family history with some schizophrenia. I even have some potential cognitive episodes of what could be reasoned to be mania or grandeur-type thoughts but I remain functional (at least academically) so naturally I am very intrigued here. I wonder, from a more cellular/physiological perspective I suppose, aren't many mental illnesses more likely to be a result of an equilibrium threshold being crossed? Of course such equilibria would need definition in such a case, but if so then this would be much more easily associated with already established physiological circuits and whatnot. That is to say, if each definable condition had a respective sort of metabolic or intercellular distinction As you mentioned with depression, one sad thought can catalyze more. Upon hearing that, I imagined that a threshold had been crossed and some extra circuits were allowed to act. Additionally, since schizo disorders are highly associated with dopamine imbalance, perhaps the relative dopamine circuits can be better ascertained by assessing the control and the peripheral changes with regard to dopamine stimulus (or other neural thresholds). I need to read the relevant literature/studies as I'm here on a whim and recovering from a hell of a school year, but this is my intuition's yield here. Also, personally, you have provided me much direction in the seven year's I've decided to pay attention to you Dr. Peterson. Thank you. Even now you have served to enrich my biochemical understandings, as this is more of the area I wish to pursue and it is an enrichment I never would have expected to have gained from you; just by having an interest in only the more political psychology of what you had to say seven years ago, but your ninth rule makes its point again.

Your telling me external factors such as stress can unlock certain genes…. Just like In the movie Deadpool. Why is Hollywood always first???
@ShesDeafSir Says:
I believe it. I can't get rid of my schizoaffective diagnosis but I did notice after going on carnivore 10 months ago that my symptoms disappeared. I'm staying on carnivore. I originally went on it to get rid of my osteoarthritis pain. I'm pain-free now as well.

Unfortunately too many oncologists are religious in there belief that cancer is NOT metabolic, rather genetic. I have been fully transparent with my oncologist, and have gotten agreement to work with integrated oncology to utilize both approaches. Stage 4 for means I will need a forever diet or have to deal with relapse. I HAVE to deal with carboholic issues.
@robinclifton Says:
Keto plus exercise DEFINITELY prevented chemo side effects for me.
@Doogiecdog Says:
🤔. I’ll give the carnivore diet a trial to see if it delivers anything for me. Hopeful with a slight bend towards skepticism. We’ll see.

From having a panic disorder, depression and ptsd, Eating Meat and Veggies, walking two miles a day and doing Pilates(core and balance workouts) EARTHING, doing simple not crazy breath work in the sun, and using the red light therapy and massage chair at planet fitness I can say with out a shadow of a doubt I’m almost completely healed. AND ILL TAKE THAT OVER CRYING TO GET OUT OF BED TO LEAVE MY HOME.

Dr Contreras at Oasis of Hope Mexico is an oncologist but mostly uses natural treatments. He has a very comprehensive website with his treatments and how they work. You can also make a telephone consultation with him for a treatment plan that you can then just follow yourself - Helped me
@Query_8P Says:
Are there any people who went on this journey and documented it from the beginning? Right now I sure see a lot of people here with positive results and that’s amazing, but it’s also a really biased sample… people who try this and fail don’t leave their story as a comment and are less likely to follow this page to begin with, so I’m conflicted. My mother has suffered from schizophrenia for about thirty years and nothing has helped. She is sort of stable right now as in she doesn’t contact police for things she thinks are happening nor is she abusive towards her children anymore (lucky siblings), but she tells us she feels it still (somehow? I don’t know exactly how that works because I don’t suffer from it). See I would be really much helped by this being true, but at the same time thirty years of trying stuff without results when people swear it will help doesn’t make me too optimistic. I’d like to read about people who failed this approach to see what type of profile of person they are. Did they fail to adhere to the diet? Do they have certain personality traits? Age group? Sex? Family? History? Current situation? My mom is stubborn but also quite apathetic, she uses alcohol and food for comfort at this point with the approval of her psychiatrist. You can imagine it’s difficult to talk to her about the benefits of trying this. (She also doesn’t take me that seriously plus she is highly skeptical and definitely not stupid, so as mentioned in the video, it makes sense for her to be skeptical, add the thirty years of treatment and I’d think she were maybe a bit naive if she weren’t skeptical…) Do you see how I don’t want to be given false hope by a biased sample when I try to discuss this possibility with a stubborn family member who likely will wave it away…
@ThriftingSquirrel Says:
Fasting’s never appealed to me. I’ve improved the quality of my diet (mostly more meat protein, more veg, far fewer ultra-processed items), and reduced my portion sizes, which has made a positive difference to my weight and overall health. I think it depends on what your issues are that need addressing, and what works for your personality and schedule etc.
@ThriftingSquirrel Says:
Seems pretty obvious that if you’re not looking after your diet, lifestyle etc, your body, including your brain/mind will be negatively affected.
@grazynkatodisco4916 Says:
Yes it’s metabolic.. it’s our gut bacteria. It’s all about what we put in our mouth.

@shawnfarrell7707 Says:
Insulin is likely the culprit that you're looking for. Constant elevated insulin is extremely inflammatory and keeps you tired, low energy, and probably being in that state causes a plethora of problems.
@Entropy825 Says:
7 months on keto, and I’ve lost 23 pounds, and I have a very consistent feeling of welness unlike i remember feeling before.

If a person is suffering from Akathesia, is a ketogenic diet recommended for relief?

@marissadower-morgan3313 Says:
Ok this all sounds so great . But my son was seen by a Specialist in NYC , associated with Cedars-Sinai /John Hopkins who was categorized as Integrative Psychiatry . We did do a similar diet for a couple of years ( High Fat ,meats fish veggies , Nuts almost no carbs ect) .for my son diagnosed with Bipolar Schizoaffective disorder. This did greatly improve his general health after years of many major other Psychiatric Prescription medications, that had no value solving his suffering ..He did look good, but the delusions and voices did not leave . Schizophrenia / Depression runs in our family . This may have some bearing on this diet format not solving the problem . Also my son has been traumatized from several social factors due to his budding childhood depression, and need to be separated from his social circle in special education . I think there is great hope in this food driven concept , but there is still no real broad scope evidence this applies to all people suffering from this chronic and painful disorder . I will also ad that many of the Psych meds side effects ( antipsychootics cause imbalances of bloodsugar of most patients ) . Also I will ad there has not been any sucessful treatment so far for may son .

I love what jordon does though it often surprises me how so many people like jordon sell out to greed, of which is highlighted by the advertising flaunted here. I look forward to the day he does something useful with his wealth besides his more recent ever growing wardrobe.

1:02:57 dr. Valter Longo jubilee award winner, already figured this out with his longevity diet. You nutritionally illiterate zombies. It’s called the fast mimicking diet and his version is vegan because he knows that anybody who is at the point where they need to fast and they have dire health issues cannot consume any animal product because of the hormone dysregulation and all of the inflammation that comes along with consuming any animal product
@shane6989 Says:
Thank the gods for people like you, Jordan and Chris. Thank you for your boldness and courage in challenging accepted and ingrained, long-held to be true, unhealthy dietary practices. And replacing them with such accessible dietary possibilities/solutions... solutions that don't require a prescription pad.

was keto for 6 months last year, and when I tell you, it was the happiest and most free Ive felt in a long time. I gave myself permission to eat a bunch of food on thanksgiving and it was the worst decision I could make. I am still fighting to get back on track But let me tell you, the keto diet and mental health are completely linked together. The only thing that really sucks is the when you do eat carbs again, all of the anxiety and depression will resurface. So once those cravings die, let them stay dead and do not bring them back to life. Because life is sooo much better without white bread and candy. Yes, they taste good in the moment, but they wreak havoc on you in the long run. It is better to suffer for just a little while to gain a lifetime of peace

@Jordan B Peterson I am a licensed pathologist with a PhD in human biology and chemistry. If someone is suffering from an illness, fasting can be the best way to reset the body's autonomic nervous system and its functions. As of 2024, there is insufficient long-term data to assess whether the carnivore diet is safe over the long term. However, there is sufficient data to strongly suggest that the ketogenic diet is safe over the long term and currently the best and safest way to reset the body's homeostasis. All other diets fail to withstand long term analytical scrutiny from a human biological and chemical analysis of data.
@isab7146 Says:
I must correct you there! Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder are not personality disorders. They are mood/psychotic neurological disorders - not disordered personality.

There is a book called “China study” that studies starving some specific cancers that feed on the casins in cow milk. This might provide the evidence you are looking for about cancer treatment through diet as well as through more traditional means.

I'm what you call No-lifer. And ADs worked (not) on me just as you described. Basically no effects besides reducing suicidal ideations and a moderate weight gain. I tried all sorts of ADs venlafaxine (the worst), escitalopram (reduced sui.ideations), bupropion (besides little more energy not much at all), valproate (sig. reduction of negative emotion, but didn't feel much alive after year and a half). Don't get me wrong AD's were a life saver bc i didn't † exit. And perhaps in the long run changed something, bc i tried the same meds multiple times with different outcomes. What seems to work now is atomoxetine for ADHD. Didn't get rid of negative emotion but i had the capacity to deal with them in a healthier way.

I am so grateful for all this information now more than ever believe that severe mental disorders are metabolic disorders my love one suffering from schizophrenia for years with horrible medications that left her with side effects that aren’t going away and if she stops the meds she gets worse and in the hospital. We need help

Many thanks to Mr Peterson and deep gratitude for everything he does. When I watched his video about being carnivore for several years and how it helped him with so many issues it planted a seed in my vegetarian brain. I have started the carnivore diet several weeks ago and I feel better every day. It has changed my life only for the better. Much love to everyone and never loose hope. You are stronger than you think x 🥰
