William McKinley (January 29, 1843 – September 14, 1901) was an American politician who served as the 25th president of the United States from 1897 until his assassination in 1901. A member of the Republican Party, he led a realignment that made Republicans largely dominant in the industrial states and nationwide for decades. He presided over victory in the Spanish–American War of 1898; gained control of Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Cuba; restored prosperity after a deep depression; rejected the inflationary monetary policy of free silver, keeping the nation on the gold standard; and raised protective tariffs. These bankers and their den of vipers have been trying non stop to control our country by inflationary policies forever. That’s why they elected Wilson in 1913 to pass the federal reserve private bank and the IRS. What people don’t realize is that the private bank had a 100 year contract, which they extended in 2013 when nobody was paying attention because fakebook was your god.
@roppypeck8934 Says:
I was hoping you would address the fact that McKinley was one of the few president's to shut down the federal reserve banking system which caused the enormous era of prosperity.... however; your not willing to go there.
@matthewhedrichjr.5445 Says:
McKinley was a horrible president due to him starting an imperialistic war, failed to support civil rights, didn’t do enough to stop the Wilmington insurrection, and was responsible for the Phillipene American War. Goes to show you why his foreign policy was such a catastrophe
@acyoutuber07 Says:
As a Filipino, thanks for mentioning US atrocities during the war.
@AFT_05G Says:
His presidency was also a turning point in the Republican Party that solidified GOP's position as the pro big business and pro interventionist party well until the 2010s, a role now replaced by the Democrats and Biden administration.

McKinley is very underrated by historians and scholars. He gets overshadowed heavily by Roosevelt and understandably so. Teddy was far superior and easily a Top 5 U.S. President but I think McKinley was a decent President as well. McKinley did had some misfires as president but most of the time, it wasn’t that bad. Not a great president but far better than the recent presidents we’ve had.
@romanclay1913 Says:
In 1896 Garrett Hobart was President William McKinley's VP. Teddy Roosevelt wanted to be the 1900 VP candidate. Hobart refused to step aside then died in November 1899, age 55. TR and McKinley were elected November, 1900. McKinley was assassinated September, 1901 and TR became president. McKinley's campaign manager, Senator Mark Hanna, wanted to challenge TR in GOP presidential primaries in 1904. Hanna died February, 1904. TR is re-elected in November, 1904.
@jonadabtheunsightly Says:
McKinley is relatively unknown, because his entire era is pretty consistently skipped over by American history teachers, who feel that it is important to adequately cover WWI and especially WWII, and there's only so much time in the school year. By the time all the explorers are covered in mind-numbing detail, it generally takes until Christmas to get through the Revolutionary War, so once they get through the reconstruction era it's spring already and the end of the year is looming close; at that point they tend to rush through everything from 1880 to 1915 in a single class period (much of which has to go to Theodore Roosevelt), because they have to move along and talk about WWI and WWII, and with any luck at the end of the year maybe there's a week or so of usable class time left to talk about the Cold War, before the end-of-year stuff completely derails any further attempts at actual teaching. The obvious solution would be to stop trying to cover it all in a single year, multiple times. I mean, you get American history for a year at least twice in elementary school, once in junior high, and once in high school. But the problem is, the students age and mature so much during the intervening years, that everything is being covered at completely different intellectual levels in each of those four years; if we were to cover only half of American history one of those times and the other half another time, the two halves would not be anything like equal. We could put two years of American history in high school, but that would elevate social studies above most other subjects (in terms of the number of years of it students have to take), and it would also elevate American history even further above world history than it already is in the curriculum, because most students only take one year of world history in high school. (The third social studies class is government or civics, and most subjects are not typically taken all four years, math and English being the exceptions.) The best *actual* solution I can come up with, would be to spend markedly less time on pre-Revolution stuff in the high school American History class. In fact, I'd be tempted to start with the Treaty of Paris (1783) on day one. This would be controversial, but it would allow for covering important aspects of American history that the students have in many cases literally never heard of in their elementary and middle school history classes, including domestic migration patterns other than the biggest (westward) one, America's rise to global power status in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, the way the two major political parties swapped positions (conservative vs liberal) during the interwar period, and so forth. But for better or for worse, I'm not a history teacher. I prefer to work with computers, because they actually pay attention to what I tell them.

Something to note: Lincoln, Garfield and McKinley's assassinations were almost alarmingly close to one another; 20 years at most. However it wasn't for over 60 years until another successful assassination took place. Clearly the changes to the Secret Service following the McKinley assassination had an effect

@bothompson-ov6ju Says:
Dude I heard a totally different version of why Teddy was chosen for VP and that was to take away has influence because the VP has almost no control in what decisions are made only thing they can do is break a tie in the house of representatives voting

Wondering why he didn't mention that his entire campaign was paid for by 3 people. J.D Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P Morgan

I find The McKinley assassination to be exceptionally sad. Most presidents (even the good ones) were pretty bad people. He stands out as a genuinely kind and nice man who did not deserve his fate.

I think this video highlights something very clearly. If McKinley had NOT been killed in office, he may very well have been in the upper tier of US Presidents. As it was, this guy named Theodore Roosevelt has sucked pretty much all of the oxygen out of the room.

Fun fact, the highest recorded voter turnout in US history was for the election William McKinley at 68%. Coincidentally this is equal to the lowest turnout in French history in the 2010s.
