@bennettsteen6451 Says:
why doesn't youtube have a convenient way to block a channel from the recommended feed? Can't be done without the video first SHOWING in the recommended feed. BTW you should list sources if you are claiming to be educational - it's like basic etiquette to give the researchers credit. ~250k views without sources in the video description or end credits is rude. OR SHOW US THE TIME MACHINE IF YOU WERE ACTUALLY THERE AS A FIRSTHAND SOURCE, EITHER WOULD SUFFICE .😗

@514Exc Says:
As a Nigerian its crazy to see this, The Benin Empires other is Edo and to this day theres a village named Edo and the empire reined from 14th to 17th century also. The title " Iyase " which is very similar to " Iyasu " means the same thing " War general ", and there is is an area named " Oba " in nigeria rather than " Oda " and translates to " Ruler/King".
@dantae88 Says:
Watching Shogun, the fictionalized version of Tokugawa. Man when they said he was know as a “trickster” they weren’t kidding. About to be besieged….throw open the gates!!!!

All these japanese shoguns got their ass handed by admiral yi soon shin.
@TheRojo387 Says:
I say his name as "Iweyasu", due to how it was originally spelled in hiragana (いゑやす).
@lopezahus3117 Says:

@glr4275 Says:
Thank you for your video. I must have commented on this already but you really remind me of Simon Schama a historian I adore. 🙂
@dudermcdudeface3674 Says:
History gives this guy a bit too much credit. Just another military dictator, no matter how clever.
@prateeksharma6706 Says:
Toyotomi hedeyosi is the best
@kirby1997 Says:
Who's here from Shogun 😮
@jannarkiewicz633 Says:
A friend wanted to see "Jaws the Revenge" in high school -- remember it was 3 day. You speak truth by referencing how bad that movie was.
@greggusan Says:
I lived in Shizuoka-ken for 5 years, and enjoyed the many historical locations near where I lived. Hamamatsu Jo become known as the Castle of Luck/Good Fortune (rough/bad translation?) after Ieyasu rose to success following his time there (a reconstructed version of the castle now stands in its place). Sunpu Jo has a very interesting history, with Ieyasu having been held hostage there, but also returning there after he retired. The last Tokugawa Shogun chose to retire there as well. Too bad nothing remains of the actual castle, but the ramparts and mote are still and impressive site.
@BerndSchnabl Says:
@3:59 .... How can there be a photograph of Oda Nobunaga (1534 - 1582) ?
@radddish Says:
time to watch this while i wait for episode 4 of shogun
@TheWhiskyDelta Says:
I mean his greatest feat in life the one thing he did better than all others was simply: living longer. He was able to take power because every major obstacle or rival, even after besting him, would eventually die to natural causes. He lived long enough that by Sekigahara their were no real significant rivals left alive, indeed the death of the last one (one of the other regents) was the very thing that lead to him making his move to siège power. Even after becoming shogun, he mostly just continued the toyotomi policies and ideas.
@user-qe2cx3ig5e Says:
4:58 . there was no clan named Yoshimoto. Imagawa Yoshimoto belonged to the Imagawa clan 😏
@hasibahmed9314 Says:
Who else is here after watching the Shogun series
@lazy_lefty Says:
Takeda Shingen was obsessed with handsome young boys and wrote a ton of love letters to different young boys talking about how "they were his hearts only desire" lmfao dude was a terrifying warlord but still had a soft spot for creepy man-boy love.....
@lazy_lefty Says:
He probably turned cold to foreigners and expelled the Christian missionaries bc he saw what had been happening in China
@bkjeong4302 Says:
Guy really beat out every other hypercompetent major daimyo of the later Sengoku Jidai (there are a ton) by being patient.
@robinwolstenholme6377 Says:
Tokugawa Ieyasu cool
@Ayaki6166 Says:
My grandma's family is distant relative the Ieyasu Tokugawa and Imperial family. also part of the daimyo's family.
@williamruiz26 Says:
I guess I did picked the right one at Epcot
@DedicatedSpirit8 Says:
Tokugawa, was a ruthless and incredibly intelligent man. He put a stranglehold on Japan unlike anyone. Nobunaga might've been the first man to subdue all of Japan but his carelessness kept him from holding on to the country for too long. Tokugawa sealed his control of Japan in a way that really proves how powerful 1 man can be.
@dynamo3590 Says:
😎 德川家康公殿!! 😎
@tajindersingh9740 Says:
Hideyoshi and Nobunaga are the two that unified japan(During Hideyoshi’s reign whole of Japan was already unified).The other seized power and established a new government.
@IRTAHDARTER1916 Says:
He a have robot
@togusa420 Says:
Your kind of over simplifying what lead up to the warring states period and the shogunate at the beginning had pretty much collapsed and wasn't even a player within the first 50 years or so
@gershomtan5879 Says:
Toyotomi hideyoshi was a fuckin legend considering he started as a commoner. Ieyasu just happened to be the most patient and best at truly ruling
@theofficialken1755 Says:
I got to visit his grave shrine in Nikko. Fairly humble shrine for an important figure.
@eshmawi Says:
I like how he summed the internet, and "Who knows, who cares.." LOVE.
@e.i.3077 Says:
I honestly respect him so much, he was a mastermind. He was betrayed by his own father and raised by his family’s enemies. He waited, learnt from other people’s mistakes and played his cards at just the right time. By far a more interesting character than the ones who only knew how to win wars.
