State Treasurers Reject Blackrock. You Should Too | Derek Kreifels | EP 344

Watch Jordan Peterson's "Vision & Destiny" on DW+ https://bit.ly/3KrWbS8 Peterson draws upon his extensive research and relatable real-life experiences to illustrate how to develop attainable goals for intimate relationships, meaningful friendships, and your career. Transform the chaotic potential of the future into actuality — with a vision. Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Derek Kreifels discuss the primary role of the state treasurer and why now, with the onslaught of ESGs and anti-fossil fuel divesting, their stewardship is so important. Derek Kreifels is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF), the only nonprofit in the U.S. that combines ground-breaking free-market research with a strong network of states' treasurers, auditors, and other financial officers, to actively sustain the health of each state's economic outlook. Before co-founding SFOF in 2012, Kreifels spent five years as Assistant State Treasurer of Kansas, where he oversaw the state's college savings plan, ABLE plan, debt and bond management, and pension investments. During his tenure, his office processed over $21B annually, and he managed 42 employees with an annual budget of over $3.5M. - Sponsors - ExpressVPN: Get 3 Months FREE of ExpressVPN - https://expressvpn.com/jordan Genucel: Use code "JORDAN" at checkout for additional savings on your entire purchase! https://genucel.com/jordan - Links - For Derek Kreifels and SFOF: SFOF website: https://sfof.com/ SFOF Twitter: https://twitter.com/SFOF_States SFOF Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/statefinancialofficers ESG's Explained: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4XmzYj9cEY Our Money, Our Values website: https://ourmoneyourvalues.com/ - Chapters - (0:30) Coming Up (1:33) Intro (2:33) Background, the State Financial Officers Foundation (5:50) Free Market first (6:28) What a State Treasurer is responsible for (8:25) Trust and treasuries (9:36) Fiduciary responsibility defined (11:02) ESG's intro (12:48) Environmental, Social, and Governance (14:15) The vision being put forward (17:18) Vanguard, Blackrock: the giants (18:04) Leveraging your money against your values (20:19) SFOF's stance on ESG's (23:41) The 'mad rush' to abandon fossil fuels (27:39) The ESG movement will not work (28:24) The issue of poverty and human flourishing (29:19) Banning gas stoves, the scope of metro-products (30:49) Leveraging US funds for Chinese coal investment (32:22) To the residual environmentalists: It's the same air (33:40) Why Fink bends the knee (35:04) Cobalt Red and covert buying (36:40) Conservatives have been slow to respond (39:08) Evil capitalists (40:41) CEOs, you'd have to be daft… (41:39) Why we typically listen to our elders (44:11) The top 3 ESG firms own 20 percent of the market (46:02) How Blackrock co-opts your funds (49:17) Most people don't vote their shares (51:41) Weaponizing money (54:39) The absurd precedent set by Trudeau (56:19) Pushing back on IRS over-monitoring (58:37) 15-minute cities (1:00:00) Digital currency and crypto (1:03:11) 50 states, 50 answers (1:03:58) SFOF goals for Americans: divest in Blackrock (1:06:30) Vanguard lost 2 Billion in a year (1:08:04) Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive (1:09:59) America: a beautiful mess or progress and insanity (1:11:59) What you can do // SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL // Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/jordanbpeterson.com/youtubesignup Donations: https://jordanbpeterson.com/donate // COURSES // Discovering Personality: https://jordanbpeterson.com/personality Self Authoring Suite: https://selfauthoring.com Understand Myself (personality test): https://understandmyself.com // BOOKS // Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life: https://jordanbpeterson.com/Beyond-Order 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: https://jordanbpeterson.com/12-rules-for-life Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: https://jordanbpeterson.com/maps-of-meaning // LINKS // Website: https://jordanbpeterson.com Events: https://jordanbpeterson.com/events Blog: https://jordanbpeterson.com/blog // SOCIAL // Twitter: https://twitter.com/jordanbpeterson Instagram: https://instagram.com/jordan.b.peterson Facebook: https://facebook.com/drjordanpeterson Telegram: https://t.me/DrJordanPeterson All socials: https://linktr.ee/drjordanbpeterson #JordanPeterson #JordanBPeterson #DrJordanPeterson #DrJordanBPeterson #DailyWirePlus

Yes, I live in Germany. I actually see significant inflation arising due to energy scarcity and costs.

What should then be done to limit emissions? Has JBP made any videos about possible solutions to envirounmental challenges?

While I wholeheartedly concur with Jordan, and I typically applaud his receptive and respectful demeanor when engaging with guests, this particular interview deviated from that norm. In this instance, Jordan's fervor led to frequent interruptions of Derek, and his passion seemed to obscure his own awareness of Derek's dissenting perspective on the 'woke' remarks Jordan was advancing, as well as Jordan's stance on ESG.

Woke capitalism is effectively socialism , they lose money over woke advertisement. instead capitalise over the ideology and lose money, Brilliant. They should advertise the product not their ideology.
@LemmyJackAndCoke Says:
I suppose the silver lining of woke capitalism, is it make them lose money, and they might have to rethink about how they should advertise it, back to the ways it was before all the woke nonsense.

I wonder if Jordan Peterson would support Alberta joining the U.S. as a 51st State? HA! Especially as a counterweight to the potential of Puerto Rico doing so at some point. Could also work out as a sort of same-same move as Putin expanding his influence vis-a-vis Ukraine. I am certainly not educated enough to know what this would entail on political front, but sounds like Albertans (Albertites?) have as little love for Ottawa as a lot of Americans have for what we have allowed Washington to become over the decades these days. I believe States Rights being restored to something closer to what the Founders would have LIKED those to look like from the beginning instead of what they were forced to agree to in order to keep the Revolution intact is the only way to restore any sanity. That "Tower of Babel" is looking more and more like a house of cards made out of flash paper these days. And getting worse every election cycle it seems no matter which party wins. I have often wondered if we had started the Russian Federation along the lines of joining N.A.T.O. at some point when the Wall fell instead of treating them like post WWI Germany, say, if things might have worked out differently. I think Russia should have much more in common with a Western orientation than regressing into what The ChiComs have regressed into after Deng Shou Peng (sp?). Although to think the "Party" would ever willingly give up the reins was exceedingly naive on the part of the U.S. I mean, what politician gives up ANY power they can get their grubby mitts on? Ever?

Good discussion. One thing they both are not realizing is that CO2 (carbon dioxide) is NOT - NOT - NOT pollution! It's plant food, literally. Therefore, this entire BS being pushed on us is not only discrimination, mediocrity/incompetence, but also lies (all via the E, and S & G). Another thing that Peterson gets wrong is that CEO's are pushing this because they "feel guilty"... Perhaps - PERHAPS - some do feel guilty, but I believe the vast majority are doing this because of GREED &/or DESPERATION... The psychopaths/sociopaths of the World Economic Forum are forcing this, via their own GREED, onto them, and these CEOs want to guarantee they're employed/bringing in income of some sort via their company being among the only ones left standing.

Imagine that all the fossil fuels that nature produced allowed mankind to be where it is now.. Hmmmm maybe without fossil fuels we would still all be in small villages scattered across the world with 1/ 1000th of the population we have now. It seems to me this was all by design possibly.

Capitalists corporations go for the woke BS because it gets rid of their competitors. Smaller companies have a hard time keeping up with the technology and testing required on the environmental front. Obama's EPA head , she is now a corporate head of Apple, changed so many rules that small companies like Speedqueen and Subzero (I'm an appliance tech) had a hard time keeping up with the major appliance corporations. It would be near impossible for someone to come up with the capital to start a new company. And it's like that in every industry.
@lesliefish4753 Says:
The worst thing humans have done to damage the planet was not the invention of the internal combustion engine but *cutting down half the world's forests* over the past 5000 years. The solution is simple; put those forests back. Plant trees! Plant a trillion trees! Trees are plants, and plants inhale CO2 and exhale Oxygen. The bigger the plant, the more CO2 it inhales. So plant more trees!

10:30 JP mentioning fiduciary responsibility of management in a company to include stakeholders beyond shareholders (customers etc) is EXACTLY an example of what ESG (or at least the S therein) is about - it’s not just diversity & inclusion concepts/ agendas. Let’s be clear on definitions and differentiate between ESG investing and ethical investing… This discussion also had no founding in academic research related to how considering ESG factors in investing processes/strategies impacts investment returns. I found this quite a narrow discussion with some statements unsubstantiated - maybe explain how are investment firms like BlackRock “punishing” companies if not aligned with their ESG agenda? Asset managers offer non-ESG funds and ESG funds, just like they offer other investment strategies (factor funds etc). It’s up to the client (e.g. the state pension) which funds to invest in. As regards stewardship, many end clients (pension funds) vote their shares and increasingly asset managers are offering choice between different voting policies to clients who do not want to or do not have the capacity to vote themselves.

A „wonderful" lobbying for the old economy in order to push everything that is not listed in ESG funds… like for example the Birch Gold Group (google it!), Mr. Petersons beloved financial supporter. By no means ESG funds are an invention of left wing activists! It was an offer from from capitalist issuers in the financial industry, in order to give responsible investors a chance to invest in companies, that work in a responsible way, moreover all together in a fund, what is clever for people who doesn't have the time to follow single shares. At the beginning ESG funds where no hot shots at all because the marked wasn't that big. Now this market is rising high. Tesla, Apple ect ect actually are ESG listed companies as well and of cause you will not find businesses like Nuclear, Gold, Oil, Coal, Gas and weapons in these funds… what makes all these so called "free market proclaimers“ nervous like hell. Solar and Wind will earn more than coal and gas and if you want to profit from it you should invest now and not in 20 years when the run is over. Moreover ESG Funds are an OPTION! If you still want to ad some of the non-listed companies in your portfolio you are TOTALY FREE TO DO SO. This whole interview has only one purpose: To discredit companies that are working for the future in a responsible ecological way. The bullshit radar is ringing like hell again and i hope that Mr Petersons victims will not follow investment advise from someone who never worked in this field and has no clue what he is talking about. By the way: You will find no companies in ESG Funds that profit from child work, prostitution, drugs etc etc Well… following Mr. Petersons logic child work is rather a chance than a crime for poor families in Bangladesh or elsewhere. We perfectly can discuss about the speed of the transition but there is absolutely no way back and Mr. Peterson knows this very well. Germanys neutral energy is already climbing over 50% and THIS IS A ROLE MODEL for any industrialised country. Very sure the so called south will need much more time for this transition but rejecting it at all, or calling it a lie, is a lie itself.
@Stallnig Says:
36:40 One might belief that they are payed or blackmailed or deceived by the Chinese or other actors of global scale to undermine and demolish western society or humanity at large. Although one should be cautious in such assumptions, it is actually very possible for all that's come to light in the recent years, let alone the last few months. Although presumption of innocence and the onus on the accuser to provide evidence is important, it should be in the best interest of a governing agency or individual, or someone with global scope of influence, to be forthcoming with providing all possible evidence that they are acting in good faith, and the means for the public to investigate the truth in such, which has been severely lacking.

"Free Market"? What exactly is that? Is it laissez faire?" And where is this free market? I see nowhere in the world where capitalism exists that anything approaching free enterprise exists. There are worker safety rules and laws. There are export and import duties and rules. There are pollution directives. There is liability for product flaws. "Free market" is a buzz phrase, nothing more. If you want to attract Democrats to some effort, you might try refraining from the use of imaginary concepts.
