Marx actually tried repeatedly to find conventional employment and was consistently blocked, largely because of his radical politics. He was exiled from multiple countries — Germany, France, and Belgium at various points. He did work — enormously, in fact — as a journalist and editor. He edited the Rheinische Zeitung in Cologne until Prussian authorities shut it down. The irony of this stupid criticism is that Marx spent his life in grinding poverty precisely because he devoted himself to political and intellectual work that no respectable institution would sponsor. He wasn't wealthy and idle but poor and overworked.
2. "He didnt care about the working class" - Spent decades in poverty himself, not in comfort, was deeply involved in the International Workingmen's Association (the First International), a real organization of actual workers across Europe
Corresponded extensively with labor organizers and trade unionists. Also his daughter was a prominent labor organizer, mainly due to her upbringin.

For me, this quote captures something deeply paradoxical about the hacker and piracy movements. As a young Iranian woman trapped under the Islamic Republic, with total censorship, poverty, sanctions, and repression closing every legal door outside the Islamic mind prison system, piracy became one of the only paths to education and self-emancipation available to me.
Through sites like The Pirate Bay, I taught myself English, German, programming, and how to communicate with the wider world. What was condemned as “criminal” by the system became, in practice, a tool of liberation.
