I was expecting a video on 7 reasons why you should use Linux. Nothing he listed makes me want to even try Linux.
@kevinshackleton5866 Says:
Linux uses less power. I installed Win10 and Ubuntu on 2 identical laptops side by side, and on 2 identical Toughpads. Linux runs for longer on battery, and the CPU runs cooler.
@JimJohnsons1901 Says:
windows 10 start menu if a lot better than what you show there.
@mv703 Says:
You forgot price.. Linux has a much better cost
@KneelB4Bacon Says:
Another thing Linux does better is it doesn't mess with your workflow. If I'm using LibreOffice Writer, I can count on basic stuff like the PRINT BUTTON being right on the main screen. And it's been that way for the last 16 years. With Microsoft Word, every time they do an update, vital functions get moved into sub-sub-sub menus and you waste half your day trying to figure out how your basic tools work.
@justinhuber4155 Says:
liked this vid, your stuff is solid. the funky music at the beginning is ... funky cool too.
@lasuzzoeagle1 Says:
Top 7 reasons Windows is better than Linux.
1. Windows is better at advertising products you already paid for.
2. Windows is better at rebooting exactly when you need your PC most.
3. Windows is better at hiding one setting across 4 different menus.
4. Windows is better at running 97 background processes for “user experience.”
5. Windows is better at installing Candy Crush on a professional workstation.
6. Windows is better at collecting telemetry than most social media apps.
7. Windows is better at turning a 30-second update into a religious experience.
@JohnyAngelo Says:
Judging by comments, Linux has 90% of the PC market.
@Realmreaver1 Says:
Is Zorin okay? I recently bought Zorin 18.1 pro. I found this site and I love your explanations.
You remind me of the teachers I grew up with as a kid plus I get that accent!

@deankirkpatrick7658 Says:
Linux can do everything better, except interact with the rest of the world.
@Lazox12 Says:
Ok now do one thing windows does better than linux (spying on you does not count)
@inderjit3125 Says:
I installed Zorin OS on my 8 year old Dell laptop and it's working pretty fine.
@FelixLantiguaCamacho Says:
Remember, we have windows themes, for that. I would say it is the same because, it is just interface, looks

I'm wondering if i can use a customized personal jpeg as a desktop background in any linux OS's ?
@gnrysergeant Says:
Linux is better than Windows in every respect
@LibertyGarden Says:
Why do prefer Mint over Ubuntu?
@1Homelife Says:
I am using Linux Mint for the second day and my PC is much better in many ways such as speed, sound, and by using Brave search there are zero ads on YouTube, and Facebook !
@AlainSylvestre Says:
on w11put start 11 and you have choice
@isjayenow Says:
Well the malware part is true to an extent, the only real issue is that many super computers, and professional servers run it. But as a desktop user you are probably fine
@johnkennettle7567 Says:
Nothing here that would make me want to change to Linux from Windows. I don't know why people who use one operating system are so keen to convince everyone else to change to theirs.🤣If you use Windows or Linux or Apple's, fine. You don't need to tell everybody that your operating system is the best.

Fire your barber.
@theostickle2604 Says:
Thank you.
I still use the system I built back in 2016. It runs windows 7 with IE 11. Like the linux system, if anything wants to install you have the manually okay it. My IE 11 has over 30 thousand addresses in its restricted sites menu. I could literally be talking to the tech at my ISP and surf the web, watch videos from anywhere, and download software without my ISP even knowing the machine was on line. Today my issue is IE 11. What can I do to make it work. What I mean, since edge (swiss cheese) most servers won't let it connect. Has to do with tracking and the scripts used (my IE 11 won't allow them to run. If I do allow them to run its like opening my front door.
Im running fire fox on it now, not for long though. Is there a browser like IE 11 that can import my IE 11 settings and still be usable for edge era browsers?
Almost forgot about this laptop. Windows 10. Dislike it very much, doesn't feel like its mine. Runs to much stuff in the background. No privacy. And I'm feeling like my android phone, I have to be careful of what I say around it.
@snoopy1alpha Says:
I recently put a second Nvme into my system and installed Open Suse Tumbleweed with KDE Plasma on it. It was a great decision. I used Linux at university, but phased into Windows after I graduated. Now I want to re-experience it.
I like your list and want to add some aspects.
- You cannot only select your desktop environment, you can install multiple ones in parallel and log into them by "mood". It also allows for testing alternative desktop environments, if you want to do so.
- Linux file systems feel "more efficient" than Window's NTFS. I used to use EXT4 on my systems, but the recent one got BTRFS. My work laptop uses Windows and NTFS ... it also uses encryption (BitLocker). I don't know if the encryption is the bottleneck or the file system, but I would bet on the file system.
- Linux file systems don't have exclusive file locks. I can delete files that are still open. This is a blessing and a curse, but it allows for live updates while the updated applications are still running. On Windows this hurts more than it helps. Try "mvn clean install" on Windows while your program is still running. No problem on Linux.
- I'm not sure about the startup time, but my new system certainly takes less time to shut down.
- Linux uses UTF-8 as default charset. Windows also claims to do so, but there are many MANY applications and tools that still struggle with it. It is not necessarily Microsoft's fault, but it certainly counts, because we are talking about "eco systems". One example: properties files in Java projects (for translations) in combination with IntelliJ. The default is some stupid western ISO charset (I can't memorize those numbers). We use UTF-8 in our projects. You always have to change it manually when installing a fresh Laptop, because IntelliJ detects "Windows -> make ISO the default". Some colleagues tend to break those files when adding to them on a fresh system 🙂
About your file manager aspect... Here you also have a choice. When using KDE, you usually use Dolphin. However, you don't have to. You can always pick a different one. I bet there are also clones of the infamous "Norton Commander" on MS-DOS ... either on the console or as desktop application 🙂
@ekjohn57 Says:
After 3 minutes I determined you don't know anything about windows.
@sakulahada Says:
I use Linux mint so many years ago, can’t remember how many. At least 15 years. Fast, clean, safe no harassment, no threats.
@sakulahada Says:
Everything in Linux is better than windows
@mprto68 Says:
I recently installed Linux mint and I love it
@lifelearner-s9n Says:
valiable Video, especially now in 2026, after EU countries have kicked Microsoft out of Europe.
@Blackronin357 Says:
I'm learning Linux for cybersecurity and so far it just click prompts so nothing I've learned has made me want Linux so far. That said I just wonder when do I get learn about the cool things I can do in linux. And when can it play Xbox games?
@NaturalBornLowlander Says:
I just need something that works straight away. Without giving in command lines etc.
I do see that Linux has improved a lot and I am thinking of using Bazzite for a gaming rig.
For the rest, it just costs me too much time. But I understand that therer are people that like tinkering.
@terryshrives8322 Says:
Microsoft has proven they don't care what you want or think. They have an agenda. Your privacy, personality, uniqueness, and everything about you is all null and void to Microsoft. There's a reason for that. You are a number.
@sagebg Says:
I am forever impressed by the fact whenever he mentions a disto he shows is on screen. This is so much work. KUDOS!
@davidwallace2950 Says:
And no registry
@hwh888 Says:
My only comment is this. If you run a software program made for win10 or win11 VERIFY they also offer a linux version.
If they do then the switch to linux is a big big plus. It’s faster and works much like windows does. There is almost no learning curve.
@johnturnbull7798 Says:
OK so now we have 7 things that Linux does better than Windows what about doing the alternative of 7 things Windows does better than Linux
@FEED_EZ Says:
Also Linux default file system ext4 is far more superior in disk corruption repair than Windows only filesystem NTFS which corrupted my C: drive and prevented me from booting for 3 days.
Also you would learn more about PC by using Linux, and most stuff can be easily fixed with a simple google search of the error on the terminal.
Also since you can't game with Kernel Level Anticheat which mostly is a competitive game, you will get your life back and actually start going outside.
@DanielMead1969 Says:
I just installed Linux, and now Adobe or Fortnite doesn't work. grrrrr
@harrymcintosh2940 Says:
I agree with what this video is saying. Linux has a lot of advantages over Windows, which is why I've switched to Linux.
But there is another side to it. There are things Windows can do that Linux can't.
The first big one, from my point of view, is that Windows has more software and hardware that works with it. It doesn't matter how great Linux is if the particular piece of software you can't live without is only available for Windows.
The second one is something that a lot of Linux people just don’t get. Windows is 100% GUI. Linux is only MOSTLY GUI. That difference really matters, and I don't think Linux will ever overtake Windows until it's 100% GUI.
@crinolynneendymion8755 Says:
Watching this while my other desktop machine is compiling a list of files for deletion and I quote, Windows has a better file manager... You have to be kidding I immediately thought, then I realized you might just references the UI part of the file manager, and yes that's "more mature". But windows file management sucks, has always sucked and MS seems actively trying too make it suck worse with each edition of the OS.
@crinolynneendymion8755 Says:
Why does Windows provide one desktop - CoPilot (yup CP itself) tells me it's because Windows sole focus is on the business market. Business does not want its users to have different desktops, it wants its workers to use the equipment one way and the setups to be standardize so the IT department can maintain them "easily".
@gregquan5647 Says:
How about Linux V a Mac? I love that I can just copy and paste between my mac and my iPhone and visa versa. I love that my EarPods automatically switch for example as needed. I would never go back to a windows device, but I'm not sure Linux is substitute for a Mac and the Apple products that just work together. A friend of mine was trying to get his ear pods to switch between his linux lappy and his android phone.
I said to him, the number of hours you've wasted messing around with this, you could have just bought a mac and an iPhone and be done with it 🤣🤣🤣
@potrzebieneuman4702 Says:
Linux also has many useful things like multiple esktops. Microflaccid Windoze tried this on their sad OS called Vista and it was only available on high end hardware, Linux does it well at least on the Gnome desktop in Mint Mate, I have yet to try Cinnamon despite using Linux for 20 years. I like the Gnome interface and have stuck with it.
Linux writes efficiently to hard drives and really doesn't need the dreaded defrag of the file system unlike the lame filesystem NTFS used by Windoze.
Linux will read/write to Windoze formats such as .doc and .docx and that's just word documents. Windoze sees only it's own file system.
I ran Windoze as a virtual machine in Linux for years until I realised that the HDD space taken up by Windoze was more useful as storage space.
I could go on as there are SO many things that are easier and run more cleanly in Linux but people need to find out for themselves.
@Angstschreeuwtje Says:
Security, privacy and scalability are the most important sides of Linux. Choosing a different desktop and fonts are not really an issue. A problem for people that are not seasoned Linux kernel jockeys is that there are too many instances that you have to fix things using insane commands, like when Mint didn't want to attach to my printer.
@mattb4010 Says:
something about "if your computer is... more mature" is so funny
@bigalon3wheels Says:
The biggest problem is installing Linux onto a computer especially one that already has a windows OS on it.
@AbstractAproach Says:
Half way through and none of this applies to me lol, i could write a bash script or ditch the wm for a de. Even the update thing, I bought windows 10 pro when you could just not connect to internet (but yeah I do get pop ups, I barely ever use it though ... but i bought it so i keep it)
@AbstractAproach Says:
Easiest video ever. The reverse would be hard
-it plays games that hate linux
- ... thats all I got (besides negatives like syware)
@pepe2chepe1 Says:
But let's be clear, the huge benefit of windows is that you can go to any windows computer, and you will know where everything is! No need to relearn anything, and most importantly you don't have to use complicated/confusing/misspelled or mistyping command lines!
@Alex_CTMS Says:
I like to imagine this is how he scolds children. "And that is why you don't eat all the cookies because you don't get any later . "
