I prefer this kind of PC building videos than others than making into PARTS..... Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 38, Part 78 and so on (they are very eager for VIEWS. More views = $$$)
Keep up the good work sir :) Btw, i really miss the prices of SSD and RAM :(
@CraigTheBrute-yf7no Says:
£29 for 16GB of DDR4 RAM, those were the golden days
@BigEightiesNewWave Says:
Yikes! The memory is now $159
@BigEightiesNewWave Says:
That is MY board, but mine is DDR5, and the AX=Wi-Fi 6E, and mine has 2.5G Ethernet

Hi Christopher enjoyed this video! Been a long time since I've built a PC. Was wondering if you would be open to doing a video on remote GUI access in Linux. Zorin, Mint, etc. Thank you for keeping the world informed. Cheers!

@c0leslv Says:
Great video! I'd be interested to see a build using the latest AM5/LG1700 motherboard and CPU. Perhaps trying to build a more "high end" pc in a small form factor case.
I'd be curious to see how much power you can squeeze in a very small case (without the pc running like an arc furnace!)
@grahampartridge9335 Says:
Besides being extremely useful and educational these build videos are very watchable.

Just have to love that unadulterated rawness.
@iraceruk Says:
Were I to try this, there would be lots of lost parts, lots of broken parts, lots of swearing and lots of panic!
😫

No hate, your channel is nice and all, but this isn't the video I'd use for a $500 gaming PC. For that price, if you stuck with a low end AM4 chip and got a cheaper motherboard, you'd be able to squeeze in a slightly higher end GPU for the budget. The title and thumbnail could definitely be more clear on the target audience - it looks like it's for gamers, but for gamers, this isn't the best value for money PC available. Maybe this would be fine for some people in between who play Minecraft and do some light editing/blendering. My last point is that this video seems to only feature all-new parts- while I don't want to say bad things about this guy, I do have to admit that Intel Arc A310 is NOT a good value for money card, whatsoever. If you applied the cheaper motherboard, used AM4 CPU or one new off Aliexpress, you could snipe a deal on Ebay for a used GPU that's better value for money, while being able to pay more for it to fit into the exact same budget. While prices vary by region, one example of this could be a used RX 5700 XT. From a quick Geekbench Browser check, this will get you well over double the performance - near tripled - while only spending the £30 that you have already shaved off with the used or aliexpress AM4 CPU and the new (could be used, but new is better for motherboards) AM4 motherboard.
Note: Geekbench Browser is not a good gaming GPU benchmark, as it measures compute. It is used in this comment as a good approximation for gaming performance as it's a convenient, aggregated, easily searchable source of information. For GPU comparisons, do more thorough research before making any purchasing decisions.
To his credit, I saw nothing wrong with the RAM, and, while I haven't checked the reliability, the PSU's pricing isn't bad. Ignore the 80+ ratings (those are power efficiency), and google 'ztt psu tier list' if you want a tier list for power supply reliability.
Basically, this guy is a perfectly fine creator, but this does not seem to be his field. I encourage you to watch his other content on topics such as SBCs, but I wouldn't take any PC building advice.

Have you made a video suggesting compatible components for a bit higher mid-spec PC? I hope to reuse my 9-year-old Fractal Design R5 case, Corsair Hydro H100i cooler, and Corsair CX750 750w power supply. It will be mostly used for Lightroom/Photoshop, Cubase DAW and, DaVinci Resolve. My existing PC isn't upgradable to Window 11 and I think my NVIDEA GTX 970 graphics card is becoming faulty (and probably not supported by Win 11, and definitely not by Adobe PS/LR.
Thanks

Kind of a cute case. I find these tall, but not very long, cases to be oddly appealing, visually. It reminds me of the snout of a pug.
@vhr Says:
lol for perspective, my i3 8100 gtx 1060 6GB, 32GB ram just scored 3148, 32% percentile. In PC gaming terms, basically ancient. Never cared about upgrading, or wanted to until recently, keeping an eye on my local used market for sweet deals :) cool build!!

I still appreciate the sub $500 build vids Chris. I also like other creators vids making the most out of ostensible waste, particularly with Windows 10 circling the drain and while I appreciate this isn't what you do it all helps keep people using tech. Seeing one your videosl a few years back got me back into building after nearly 20 years!
@G_H_U_H Says:
I like the PC case, I have one of them in white, also have three of the Talos E3 non mesh with the glass front. Really great case as it has a small footprint for a full AXT tower, more comparable to an mATX case. The only down side is the fans, not being able to control fan speed was a huge mistake on Gamdias' part. Throw a box of Thermalright fans in there for cheap and your ready to go though. Great video, even gave me a laugh as your use of the word "swine" is both adequate and Subjectively hilarious to me !
@PenSteel Says:
Watching this video made me realize how much Chris reminds me of Michael Rosen, both very entertaining people in their own right!

Perhaps a video about explaining Graphics Cards would be nice . Also maybe difference between Integrated Graphics and Integrated Graphics 😊😊😊😊
Great video. Thank you. One question I have is do you need a heat sync on the second SSD drive? It looks like there would not be enough room to use thePCIE slot. Presumably the heat sync would be too tall.

Chris, thank you so much for this tutorial on selecting and building a sub-$500 PC. It’s been a long time since I last built a computer, and this was exactly what I needed to get back into it. Our old HP EliteDesk just wasn’t cutting it anymore, especially for some light gaming. Your clear, step-by-step approach made the whole process smooth and approachable. Best part? My kids jumped in and helped build it with me—they loved it, and the PC runs the games they wanted perfectly. Huge thanks again for the guidance!

After watching tons of videos on PC building nothing caught my attention like this one.
Well paced for both pros and noobs it is definitely a great course indeed.
Interesting very interesting 🤔🧐 without a second thought most of them will buy your specs shown in this video as it is simple yet powerful enough for years to come, for a guy like me who needs more ports and support for old ones too this one seems to merge well the best of both worlds.
Thank you so so much sir 🙏☺️ yet again for another interesting video. Mother universe bless you ✋🤚👏💯✅💝

I literally built my Pc almost identical to yours a year ago
Intel Core i3 12100
Intel 670p 2TB NVMe PCIe 3.0 TLC SSD
Intel Killer WiFi 6E Desktop PCIe Card
Intel Arc A750 Graphics Card
MSI Pro Motherboard
600 W EVGA PSU
4 X Western Digital Blue 2 TB
Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
Fractal Design Core Case
Pretty cool system
I liked the Intel stock cooler enough I just left it.
That was meant for me honestly
But I decided to gift it to my wife for all her hobbies
Photography, Video Editing all does well on just an i3

Very interesting indeed, but for €200 more you could have gotten a Mac Mini M4 with a lot more power and an included operating system with lots of free software and you would not have to built it yourself. Besides that it is a lot smaller and is guaranteed to work out of the box. As an alternative you could also have bought a 2013 MacPro for €300 to € 400 that has more than enough power for video editing or whatever you would want to do with it. And of course you know all that and it is always fun to built a computer, I understand that but still thought I should mention that 😊. Greetings

68 passmark overall is amazing at under £450. My 5yo PC only gets 74% today and that cost double. I think the Arc was a great choice in your build. I've just built one for my son's birthday at £900 and got 94th percentile which I'm quite proud of - think I hit a bit of a sweet spot. The GPU is of course the limiting factor.

Looks like my 2 year old 3060 12 GB is gonna stay active for a few more years. I am not paying 700 pounds for a GPU capable of playing games. I dont need eye candy but i want something better than low settings across the board and 30 fps. Ive not had much luck with gigabyte over the years. For me they never last longer than 2 to 3 years
