My 3.5" Colors phone -> Galaxy A10
Was one of massive upgrade from size to 6.2" and 2000mb ram (256mb on colors ) and 32gb storage (8mb on colors ) and so much
But I got one plus nord and while specs are very good , their size is not different and I can do basic stuff on both phones. Gaming is better but if you skip mobile gaming because of micro ( even Genshin Impact after you benchmark and quit the Gacha trap ) then yeah , Gaming phones should emulate otherwise even mobile games are underused. Games max out at about 8gb and that's fine because rest is for multitasking or switching between games. But if you do One game at a time , 24 Gb is best used for emulation. NGL I'm a sucker for specs too. 4ghz SOC , 32gb ram , 2Tb storage ufs 4.0 would make me go wow but that's it. Sometimes I feel like I like specs more than device. Have any one of you bought a gaming phone or laptop but not play a lot ? Yet drool over specs .. ??

It's almost like no reason to buy a phone and wait for long time. Iphone 10 to 14 is okay but in 2024 Iphone 16 come. I say Iphone 16 is best for people in 10 and below.

15 onwards might as well trade your phone or just be a apple lover. No reason for 16.
I an happy with android but I have dislike them over years. They're being more like apple and copying worst . After One Plus settled , Huawei and Sony is my hope , or Pixel. The BBK in general also a hope. POCO also. But I'd say they're more of budget conscious or extremely well speced phone , but Huawei and One plus had like Huawei was more experimental like LG but not same , One plus was clean and enthusiastic until Color OS merged. Sony is expensive NGL , but I'd buy Sony over iphone all time. They're screen are too good ! And camera too. Ios is fun too. If I was rich I would keep iphones as extra device. I liked android because of diversity. But now even Samsung is boring. These guys got amoled like 12 yes or more ago.. now they're playing it too safe.

Peak slab smartphone? YES! Peak smartphone in general? Not quuuite. We won't get there until foldable phone development starts to really hit a wall, which is probably still ≈2-3 more years away. Once foldables are fully figured out though, then yeah, the traditional smartphone will basically become a "solved device" in much the same way the laptop did in the early 2010's. 🤷

I read this article and I must admit it's true. There is not much to improve on especially for the average consumer. Any improvements it no longer becomes a phone . Even the foldable phone has it's limits if maintaining the definition of a phone. And so to me it makes since for companies to extend the longevity of it's devices. Upgrades are becoming in a sense desperation. No real advantage nor incentive for the average consumer. I mean honestly 60hz vs 120hz, who cares, humans just are not ready for that kind of impatience. They are inpatient as it is.but honestly not much more I can see in incentives. And Apple amongst others are confirming my hypothesis. You can only put so much into the rectangular object we call a smartphone . So upgrades besides security become superfluous. My humble opinion.
4 Signs Smartphones Have Peaked
1. Smartphones Look the Same Now
Modern smartphones look almost identical from the front because they've evolved to best fit their function, showing the most content while taking the least amount of room. The Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro is unique, but under-display camera tech will eventually make all smartphone fronts look the same.
Luckily, things are much more exciting at the back. Put a Google Pixel, a Samsung Galaxy, an iPhone, and a Xiaomi flagship phone face down next to each other, and it'll become clear how each brand is trying to build a unique identity for their phones. 2. Benchmark Scores Don't Matter Anymore
Although apps like AnTuTu and Geekbench are good indicators of how powerful a phone is, benchmark scores are irrelevant now for the vast majority of regular users. After a certain point (about 700,000 points on AnTuTu), the scores start to lose meaning.
In fact, the iPhone 14 uses the same chip as iPhone 13, the A15 Bionic.
Another reason to disregard benchmark scores is that they're not always an accurate representation of the phone's real-world performance. Some manufacturers set their devices to detect if a benchmark app is running to make it avoid throttling and inflate its performance, showing you an exaggerated score.
3. You Only Get Small Yearly Upgrades
Earlier, each new generation of smartphones introduced something that would become mainstream. For example, smartphones first got a rear camera and Bluetooth in 2002, a selfie camera and 3G in 2003, Wi-Fi in 2004, headphone jacks in 2005, and touch screens in 2006.
They also got fingerprint sensors in 2007, 4G and AMOLED screens in 2008, HD video in 2009, FHD video in 2010, HD display in 2011, wireless charging and FHD display in 2012, QHD display and 4K video in 2013, USB-C ports in 2015, and 5G in 2019.
As time passes, new revolutionary features become few and far between.
4. Flagships Aren't That Special Anymore
Many features previously exclusive to flagships are now easily available on cheaper phones, such as 4K video, wireless charging, in-display fingerprint scanner, and more. Companies come up with all sorts of overhyped features in flagships to try to upsell buyers.
That's why we recommend you pick Galaxy A over Galaxy S phones if you're a Samsung fan. Sadly, for Apple users, the budget iPhone SE series retains an outdated design, poor battery life, and a single rear camera and is not recommendable.

My 13 pro max got the white screen of death just post warranty. Its unfair that I have to pay almost half price of the phone for a screen replacement without any damage. As well as the care provider charging me 10 dollars for everyday they took to fix the phone.

Even if it isn’t on the peak, i don’t know about the others, but I don’t need more performance than new gen iphone has. Nah. Phones have peaked. iPhones from 2017 are still useable today (unlike android). i bought an iPhone 12 mini that i intend to use until they fall apart. Even then, i wont feel like i got the most out of my purchase. Its like paying $200 per year for a phone. Hopefully foldables by then have come a long way.

“Peak” smartphone will never exist. The quality will presumably only ever increase, albeit by smaller amounts each year. Peak better describes something like the performance of athletes over time, since that actually notably decreases. It’s reasonable to say you would choose Lebron James at 30 over LeBron at 38. Although there were bigger jumps between phones ten years ago, very few people would choose to use a 10 year old smartphone over a recent one, because again, unlike athletic performance, the quality only ever increases.
If you wanted to get technical, you could say the first derivative peaks, but that’s functionally irrelevant.
