They could have put the headphones in the eco system by using the phone to connect to the Sonos system while connected via Bluetooth to headphones. They don’t need wifi directly.
Or just a physical wifi switch on or off.

to be fair, I have sonos speakers in my apartment and I wouldn't care if the headset communicated with the speakers. i avoid the sonos app like the plague. any way that i can communicate with my sonos speakers without using the app is my goal. i only open the app to fix settings. once I learned that i can long press the play button on a speaker to add it to list of speakers playing i've been doing that than editing the group settings

My problem with the Sony's is the weak hinge (XM4 and XM5). The headphones sound AMAZING non the less but mine have only lasted around 2 years each for the 2 I've had. Both snapping at the plastic hinge. I've never dropped the Sony's but they snapped after picking them up out of the case EVERYDAY for two years. I admire SONOS for being one of the only headphone brands making a metal band to the ear-cup. I would rather sacrifice folding the headphones down into a smaller package for transport if it means the hinge won't snap and last as long as the the actual internal hardware.

As someone who bought the ultra soundbar $1000 plus the subwoofer for $800. After taxes it was closer to $2,000 for the Sonos soundbar and sub. I have to say the experience was meh. IMO it’s overpriced you can find a $700 total cost sub and bar and sound much much better by LG or Samsung
