Can i try core and then update to pro? Thanks for the great video. I am looking for another OS because my n73s asus laptop + win10 = not that great because of usb drivers and gpu drivers, it doenst recognize my gpu and any attempt of installing or updating drivers results in a broken windows and re-install. I just want to keep using it because of its screen size and good sound! Asus n73s 17 inch laptop LF os ;p

How about the Light edition? Advantages/disadvantages?
@PeBoVision Says:
I installed Zorin Light on an old core duo Win 7 Laptop (with 2GB of DDR2 and a 200GB hard drive) a couple days ago. I now have Core Pro on all my laptops. And as soon as I determine the software ramifications (Wine windows software support is still not 100% and Proton has limited effectiveness with windows-only Steam applications), it will be installed on ALL my systems.) So, I'll have to find Debian alternatives to some of my favourite Windows software. (Can anybody recommend a good usenet client?) But most importantly I have to say, I have not had so much fun fiddling with an OS since windows XP (before Microsoft removed pretty much all Windows customization features). 3 days of jooyously tweaking and exploring an OS until 4AM...it's been decades!! Zorin is also ROCK SOLID. If two days of blind fiddling in the terminal didn't break it, nothing will. Heck it's worth the installation just to get YouTubeRed. Within the next month, I can't see myself having Windows installed on any of my systems. What a glorious divorce that will be! Windows is no longer an OS, it a metadata mining app for Microsoft. Thanks to Microsoft, that Core Duo laptop had become a doorstop...I didn't dare connect to the internet. Planned obsolecense. Now it runs lightning fast and as long as I do a Clam scan from time to time, I feel 100% secure. Don't throw out your older systems, resurrect them with Linux!! Windows 11 Pro is $199 US. Zorin 16.3 Pro is $39 US.

I tried the OS, it needs masses of work, it has no chance of unseating windows (or any other operating system) from their market position, not even ubuntu which is what provided the vast majority of the OS. It has the same problem that any open source OS has, there isn't enough will to finish it because there's no commercial value. (No, not even at 39 dollars for the Pro version, which is very much just the same thing with some extra themes and a little improvement here and there.). SuSE is far ahead of this (Probably for exactly the reason that it's a commercial release and the money it's sold for pays for development) That said, I do see that it's important to have an OS named after a role played by Christopher Walken in a bond movie.
@rkg456 Says:
My only gripe with ZorinOS is the updates. TOOOOOOO many updates, almost every day it tells me of more updates even though I tell it to only tell me every 2 weeks. Then if I choose NOT to stop what I am doing and install them it will literally lock me up and make all of the icons on my desktop disappear and from the taskbar. Forbid I have any important items open when that happens. Its just as bad as Windows 10 and 11 in that respect.
@christopherfothergil Says:
Brilliant OS.
@juanjgines1881 Says:
Hi Mr EC. Following your advice I installed Zorin 16 (Core) on a 5 year old Dell tablet that has been happily running Windows 10. Got replaced by a more powerful laptop and I was tempted by your excellent report on Zorin OS so I went ahead and installed it as a temporary measure before I paid for the Pro version. Functionally complete and solid Zorin may well be, but in terms of performance it is not quite there yet am afraid. Not worth going into specifics (quite a few frustrating issues), but if you had told us about that I would have looked elsewhere (ie. Linus Mint). Can always go back to my Windows 10 backup I guess ...
@ruddock7 Says:
Does anyone know why the font when using wine in Zorin lite is perfect and smooth but in Core and Pro it looks terrible?
@MrGaryRoberton Says:
With the realities of Win 11, I feel more like "Press Ganged" than "Jumping Ship" Even an old dog and a dull one like me, can learn some new tricks, thanks to you, Sir. Cheers
@vince6219 Says:
Hi Chris.. just an update.. got Zorin installed and I am loving it, it runs very smooth, not like Ubuntu, but that could have been the pc it didn't like Or my poor computer knowledge 😊. Anyway thanks for introducing me to Zorin I am going with this for now. It's on my laptop and I will be putting it on my build from your recently new video. Many thanks Chris 🙂

@KennethITGuru Says:
I had to come back to this video as i've been using Zorin OS 16 Core for sometime now due to it's recommendation from this channel. This is my first full leap to a Linux distro after fiddling around with Linux Mint as a curiosity. All I can say is WOW!!! It is an amazing OS and it was so much easier to transition because the basic layout is very similar to Windows. It's a clean, efficient and fast OS that doesn't have all the spyware, bloatware and all around creepy Microsoft programs embedded in the system. If it wasn't for Chris recommending it on his channel, I would probably have never found this awesome OS. I like it so much better than Linux Mint because it's more streamlined and seems more like Windows in my opinion. I plan on switching all of my families computers to this wonderful OS. Thanks.

I installed Zorin OS 16 core on an ASUS EeeBook PC X205TA with the imbeded 32 GB eMMC storage module. Using a 500 GB USB external 2.5" HDD for storage. You can Google up the specs on the device. It handles Linux nicely, much better than the original Windows 8.1 that was on the device. I couldn't install Linux Mint Cinnamon on it because although this notebook has a 64-bit CPU and such, it requires a 32-bit boot loader, which Zorin utilizes. The installation routine ran flawlessly. My wife uses Zorin OS 15.3 on her 2009 MacBook and loves it. I prefer Mint, but this device prefers Zorin.

Balena etcher is in most cases the best choice. In a case like this on the video I prefer Ventoy… Copy all ISOs on one USB an boot from it. Then you can choose from which on you might boot

For people migrating from Windows, who aren't big gamers, just regular desktop app users - Zorin OS 16.2 Pro is my favorite OS distribution - hands down. You can try the Core version for free. However, for just $39 for Pro, they provide online installation support, which for a nube Linux user coming from Windows is important. And, $39 is NOTHING for a Windows user who is used to paying thru the nose for OS, app s/w, etc. Just my take. I've been trying linux desktop distributions for 15+ years, as a Windows user, Solaris, RedHat, .... ubuntu, MintOS, PopOS, ElementaryOS, ... but ZorinOS 15 then 16 was the one that hooked me a year ago (actually installed ZorinOS 15.x first and tried it.) I installed Oracle's VirtualBox on all my Windows machines (some Core2Duos, some Intel 4th Gen, 5th Gen, and 6th Gen) as trials with older hardware I had laying around. Even running on VirtualBox, I enjoyed ZorinOS 16.x very much. So, I backed up my Windows OS installs I had on 3 laptop machines - 1 Core2Duo, 1 5th Gen, and 1 6th Gen; then did bare metal original installs of ZorinOS 16.1 Pro (which auto upgraded to 16.2 later). I've been using these systems for over a year now, right along side my Windows 10 laptops. I switch and go back and forth with no problems. (I have also continued to use the VirtualBox/ZorinOS 16.2 Pro installs running on my Windows 10 laptops & HP All-in-One Desktop, as it is so easy - it really starts & runs like an 'application' on Windows. My next laptops will probably be a new 13th Gen Raptor Lake with 16GB DRAM, and 1TB of SSD storage - so I can't wait to see how both baremetal and VirtualBox installs run with all those P Cores and E Cores with lots of RAM & Nvme SSD to play with! Zorin OS 16.x Pro is great. I am, in fact, using my Dell Inspiron 15-5548 5th Gen (2 cores/4 threads) laptop w 16GB RAM & 1TB Sata2/3 SSD w ZorinOS 16.2 Pro to write this comment to all of you!

I built my PC from Chris's 6 part budget Ryzen 5 build. I'm now convinced I need Zorin as opposed to Mint as I have ongoing problems getting, email, Wacom tablet, Epson printer all to work properly, I'm fed up with adding hardware but unable to pair it up with the drivers, I cannot follow the path from download to a desktop app. I thought I would have to go for a dual boot system but I think Zorin is a go'er for me.💯
@DordeKaurinovic Says:
Subscribed :) I will install zorin like TV OS
@GandaMelgao Says:
I just can't handle Linux. Just tried another Linux distro (dual install on a second partition) and again is overwhelming for me. Installed gargoyle but couldn't figured out how to change the text size. Installed Frotz. It runs only in the terminal. Couldn't find out how to launch the games. Beside, the installation corrupted the Windows (even on a different partition). Just formatted the damned thing and reinstalled Windows 10.

Hi, is this OS good for i3 potato pc/laptops?
@laurencehastings7473 Says:
Thank you. First of all I'm not a geek or a nerd in fact I'm just a 66y.o. who became disillusioned with Microsoft when I discovered my core i7 isn't Win.11 compatible. Having watched your vid. I promptly bought an old HP 6930p laptop for 50€ and set about installing Zorin 16.1 as you recommended. Download and creating a flash drive , easy even for me. Took a bit of time and effort to config. the BIOS to boot from USB but I got there eventually. Up and running and easy. Having decided I was happy ,I promptly bought a 250GB SSD (el cheapo!) and started all over again. Still trying to find a backup app. with GUI, as I'm not conversant in terminal use or vocabulary but as a first time LINUX user with no experience I'm impressed. Old laptop now tip-top thanks to Zorin and you so I might eventually upgrade my primary laptop once Win.10 is no longer supported.
@einsteinorwell Says:
I almost installed Zorin OS but for some reason I went with MX Linux instead. It's also a good Linux distro for those who have been used to using Microsoft Windows. It looks fairly easy to install Windows programs on Zorin Os though so I may install it on another internal drive. Thanks for the video.
