This would be AWESOME on the INSIDE screen of a foldable IF it was possible to do so.
Keep the outside display regular but the foldable screen with this technology so reading bigger texts etc. would be more comfortable.
As the inside screen is usually protected by the physical phone itself (when closed) the lack of a screenprotector would be way less of an issue.
Just imagine a Google Pixel Fold(2) with that kind of inner screen.

Obviously not the same thing as being built into the glass but I have matte screen protectors on my iPads and couldn’t imagine using anything else. The biggest benefit is honestly just not having to constantly wipe the screen of fingerprints.

I have upgraded version with grey matte finish on the backside as well. Feel so good to hold. And with no reflection on front screen is great and ink like display is good. Better then e-ink. So yes same question why phones don't have this, apple should experiment with this! Wondering why this phone 📱 did not took over amid Samsung and apple marketing

50 megapixel is normal for $200 now? My S9+ from 6 years ago only has 12 MP and that was a flagship. Camera technology has gone fast to put 50 MP in a $200 phone.

It's 4 months after the review, I've seen some tablet models have this kind of matte screen. The edge of characters looks with color blipping, but over all these models are load with teaching material with large characters and large pictures to look from afar, it's ok to buy for kids. Hope they improve it. By the way, this idea comes years before with cheap tablets for young kids, not from major brand.

Well, you can do what I did on my last phone (G8 ThinQ), and put a matte screen protector on it. The problem is finding one for your phone, though. There just aren't that many available, which is surprising considering how annoying outdoor daytime glare is. A matte protector does have at least one of the same drawbacks of the screen on this phone, which is the softening of images. It's kind of like soft focus on actual photographs and, if your eyes are sharp enough, you can see the display seems ever so slightly pixelated. It may have dimmed the display just a tiny bit, but not by much if it did. But another downside was that they only seemed to come in plastic rather than glass and it decreased the touch sensitivity of the screen a bit. But, all in all, it was worth it to be able to see my screen on a bright day. As it is, I may have to find another one for my new S23 since its glass is super-reflective and overly touch sensitive even with a glass protector on it. It will be a trick since it will have work with the in-screen fingerprint reader. (which the generic glass protector I got with a case already interferes with) What I'd really like to find is a matte Gorilla Glass protector or one with a super tough (like Crizal for glasses) anti-reflective coating. Also, putting in a layer that filters blue light was kind of silly since most new phones already had display settings for that.

Smart branding, but kind review, of technology that sounds highly familiar to technology that was standard on smartphones 10 years ago, except for the 90hz sause and perhaps some software trickery. I think what this demonstration platform of nextpaper would make the future of smartphones interesting is if they could make true e-ink technology work at 60-90 hz. I think it could help increasing battery runtime amazingly high if done right with the same 5000 mAh battery compared to (am)oled.
