MQ, if you are just an everyday user who is not concerned about content creation, just scrolling on the train, can you see a downside to this at £175?

I heard that this screen doesn't scratch. Hard to believe, but one reviewer was going at it with a knife and it actually was fine.
@TM-wi3or Says:
I got this for the eye comfort but unfortunately the soft, fuzzy text causes eye strain anyway. Since I'll mostly use the phone for WhatsApp communications and Chatgpt so will do alot of text reading... I'd have to put on my astigmatism glasses which I usually don't need and don't use. I can see fine without the glasses, they just make things a bit more crisp and clear. Not needed for daily use, only when driving and reading signs from a distance, but I manage fine without them, they just help. However, with this NXTPAPER PRO 50 screen, I actually NEED to wear the glasses. It's a shame there's no setting to just sharpen the text a bit. You can make text bold and add contrast which adds white or black light around text but they is sort of straining on the eyes at the same time as it makes it sharper. Since I don't want to carry my glasses around all day around my neck incase I need to look at my phone, I'm not sure I can keep it. Although the matte screen certainly is very relaxing on the eyes and I have light sensitivity and for that it's excellent. No glare, no strain for light. I'm having a hard time deciding now.

can you please do a review on the newer tcl nxtpaper 60 ultra
@anthonymcguire7979 Says:
If TCL came out with nxtpaper flagship tiny bezels great specs I'm totally in I've always loved their displays on the phones I've had got one for my son and was amazed by it Everytime I picked it up
@wojciechbanas5559 Says:
E ink doesn't minimize eye fatigue. There's usually no difference if you add more light to what you see or not. Unless it's too dark to see, or it's genuinely so bright you have turn away from it, it's just guys like this one making you think you're getting eye fatigue to but more shit you don't need
@fon75 Says:
I do think you haven't fully understood what these devices are about.

I just bought one for $50 on Black Friday. It has some crazy specs for $50 and a really fantastic screen for $50 brand new from Target 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 the shitty Temu phone I got just to play with, out of curiosity, from China was $57 LOL
@Darkvirgo88xx Says:
I have the 50XL as a spare phone. Its got the 120 refresh rate with NXTPaper.
@KevinSar Says:
1 year later and TCL has really marketted the crap out of the tablet with stylus if I didn’t already have the tab ultra I would definitely get it, hell I might just get it now it’s so affordable
@justz9435 Says:
TCL should just get into the E-reader market. Seems like they could smash it out of the park pretty easily.
@Jrags88 Says:
I got a fat ass job in the oilfield, work outside from sun up to sun down, often where there is no shade in sight. A scree that doesn’t reflect would be amazing, I wanna check these out😎
@TheSuperStroker Says:
People would be more likely to buy it if it was available. I tried for a week to pick one up that didn't have a crazy middleman fee attached.
@pabli_ Says:
I couldn't find not even ONE single video with footage of using the phone to actually read an ebook. Very disappointed.
@ReverendAlBrown Says:
Paperlike display screen protector: problem solved by turning any screen into a ink like display with little to no glare.

Want to make Elon interested? Make it pointy. Want to make Marques interested? Make it matte (best if black)

Looking at this brand and eink phones (like bigme hilbreak pro). Using an iphone with a matte screen protector with all accessibility tricks to have less light out of the screen. Honestly I see little improvement coming from this TLC solution over my actual setup. I am more interested in trying the Bigme hilbreak pro (and new color version) for full eink experience with no light and full visibility under the sun. Chao
@iloper Says:
i bought it...

So Marques , speaking of that model the new model which is the TCL nxtpaper 60 ultra just came out in Europe and won all kinds of awards and it's all over YouTube and pretty much blows away anything we have here in America and they're saying hopefully that phone is going to come to the USA but I put a couple links just now for you to click on for the comment area and you most likely will be impressed with this phone and I don't know I just feel like in the USA we're doing nothing special with our phones because it's the same crap every year between three phone companies which is apple, Samsung and Google pixel and they don't do anything really special except for they might do something to the camera and the batteries almost never change and then they do a bigger processor whoop-dee-doo but look at what's being done in China with all the other phone companies that are surpassing Us by far with better technology and in Europe and now you look at this company and what they've done with the screen to where it's way more comfortable on the I so people don't have pwm sensitivity which is becoming a big thing and a lot of people write to Apple and Samsung and Apple and Samsung don't care and my guess is in the next 10 years that Europe and Asia is going to blow us out of the water when it comes to technology because we're lagging big time here in the USA but I would definitely check out the links I gave you and you are probably going to love that phone and maybe just do a review on it and I hope we get it here in the USA soon and looking forward to hearing your input and thank you

Weird watching this, when you are clearly reading from above instead of looking at the camera. Too hard to watch.

this on smart watches
@ericlind6581 Says:
I agree that as a phone, it’s usability is dampened somewhat. But as a tablet, it’s off the chart for text based usage. I bought the Nxtpaper 11plus tablet and it’s wonderful as my writing ebook reader device. I have an ipad for all my other activities. So it’s a great complimentary device and cheap enough to be so.
@manixware Says:
Watching this on the rebranded Alcatel V3 ultra sold in India. Bought it as a second phone to replace my boox palma. It's heaven as a second phone with the nxtpaper display where i would read and message all the while. YouTube is watchable for learning videos etc. it comes with this whopping 108 mpx primary camera if need be. It has a 5g esim, a 5g physical sim, a micro sd card slot and a wired headphones socket. It's got everything for the reader and audio buff.
@FathersWitness Says:
I would buy it for books and productivity. like a little side phone while I work while my kids use my iPhone to facetime their grandma.
@KingPInWINNERDesinged Says:
Just realized Samsung copied matte display for it's ultra phone
@call911ok Says:
I just bought the tablet 14.3inch version of TCL nxtpaper, trying it with reading some ebooks, it does look fine playing YouTube, going to see if it's strenuous to the eyes. 😊
@MGL83 Says:
Its easier to see in sunglight, shart enough to display komoot or other navi, and is cheaper than Garmin.
@scenicride Says:
I wish they applied this tech to smartwatches, I would definitely buy it
@lyjah21ify Says:
So the s25 ultra has this right?
@Vhc706 Says:
I suffer from major eye strain and this LCD phone eactually makes it worse. This is most likely from the cheap display behind the matte screen. I hope a major manufacturer will pick this idea up and use a decent high--contrast OLEDdisplay with less flickering and decent PWM rates.
@xbc2000_ Says:
I was really interested in this, but apparently its not e-ink. At that point, its more of a gimmick.
@SolStvrdust Says:
I wish TCL put more powerfull processor and better camera in ths and it will be bombastic !)
@Zyosv7 Says:
Just no, because glossy is better and there's already matte screen protectors if you want that
@zhuhang.jasper Says:
I looked at the actual product and disappointed by it. It looks just like LCD with matte screen protector. Super faded and washed out. It only sounds interesting on paper. Go have a look by yourself.
