I’m sorry but I disagree with the majority of commenters here.
My perspective is that Jordan Peterson is using his incredible intellect to do the opposite of what an incredible intellect is best at doing - specifically to take a complicated subject and make it more simple to understand. See Richard Feynman.
This begins with clearly defining terms and sticking to foundational principles, evidence and logic.
Instead, Peterson uses his intellect and vast vocabulary to complicate the meaning of truth, to obfuscate points and to metaphorically shoot clouds of ink into the sea behind him to confuse the follower or skeptic. Specifically, he appears lost in myth, metaphor and stories and seemingly drunk on symbolism (Dawkins quote). It is so bad that he find questions of truth to get in the way of the story. Yes - he said that. E.g. virgin birth, resurrection, miracles.
Despite the incredibly dubious carnival barker custom made, religious jacket, I don’t think he is a fraud.
I do think he is lost and desperate to reconcile what he wants to believe with what his scientific mind tells him is true. My guess is that this profound subconscious conflict is a major contributor to his chronic health problems.
I am so very sorry to see this fall.
