My high school had a teletype paper punch, next to a rotary dial up teletype terminal! That was in 1972, it was a 10 x 10 foot room nobody knew about unless you had enrolled in computer math.
Ms. Butler was a young pretty teacher that taught BASIC, and each student was given a login that had 5k on a drum storage drive somewhere in my city, and a time limit like 100 hours per month.
It was a couple years of being in this nerd zone I decided I would not and could not do this for a career. I needed a 50 percent desk job with 50 percent walk around time. I found it with Johnson Controls, I installed automation equipment on every building system, control it, measure it, and make it back to the control system personnel as data. I ended up retiring for the post office as an electronic tech fixing mail sorting machines. Loved my career!

Inspirational, I have always been a programmer in the privacy of my home. I can't do real coding but I pretend, writing stuff in python (while wishing I could write real code), only my wife knows my dirty secret, out of the house I'm an IT manager but I secretly wish I could come out as a programmer, though like you recently I think I might be a prompt engineer not sure what that is, but I think I might be one in my heart.
