how much ram do you recommend? and would a pi 3b 1gb ram work with an voice assistant? im gonna program my own python script (actually already have a base) but im not sure if 1 gb is enought for a single py script

AI is a bit loud word for this mostly procedural processing of everything. The only place where something resemble AI is speech recognition and speech synthesis, but it's more precise to call it neural network powered. As for microphones, any mic which will work with Linux PulseAudio will do the job. I don't know why these guys are limiting the choice.
And with open source projects like Mozilla DeepSpeech and Coqui.AI (TTS and STT) you can do both voice recognition and voice synthesis completely offline. I don't know why these Mycroft guys didn't take this option, it's quite easy to setup and use

Well done Chris, I didn't know you were able to do that with a Pi but as thing progress it's good to know it's available if you would like to take on a project like this. The Pi you are using in the video is the same one I have The Raspberry Pi 4 with 4GB RAM. I'll give it a go and see what happens.
