No software engineer I know would code this story. Since men would never be able to distinguish between pattern recognition and actual machine thought, the mere suggestion you think you would know what sentient ai would look like is bizarre at best?
So, if it can generate script lines from the movie Transformers, that's your proof? I can design a spreadsheet that can do that.
And it will never be balling or hitting the showers. Machines that mimick humans could terafarm Mars or build space stations.
Why people assume it would murder begs some accountability somewhere.
There are some regulatory matters and business patterns in development closer to completion regarding intellectual property rights that will be addressed if people are patient.
If not, AI will be simply not used anymore than people can spam your email - its purpose will be limited.
This situation (easy labor) happened before with the invention (or use) of email. Email was quickly abused for unethical purposes and then severly limited - because everyone looked the other way.
And it is a pain to run a web site these days because of what those people did decades ago.
