Mine just died, and it's a known hardware issue. Google even extended the warranty because people were having their Pixel 5a's die en masse. Guess I didn't get the memo and mine just died out of nowhere last night. Google support is of no help.

Got a pixel 5a through amazon Dubai. Within a year display stopped working...green flickering...so many cases online with the same issue (glass didnt break or take a hit). Phone was not mishandled. Used with armour case and mobile outfitters fusion shatter proof display sticker.. Had to ship from Dubai to US (shipping cost was 160 USD to and fro). Display was changed free of cost. Within 3 months again the same issue and google wont give a reason as to why this issue happened earlier and why they wont cover the issue as it is happening in 3 months from replacement. 3 hours on customer support chat and all they kept saying is mobile is not under warranty and we need to pay for it. Shipping again and paying for new display would cross the mobile purchase cost. So now the phone is just a brick.

bought a brand new pixel 5a, 6 months ago, and it's suddenly gone DEAD. Took to the servicing store, they couldn't repair it after trying for 2 weeks. Searched on google and there were many other such cases with pixel 5a.
Google has serious hardware issue with this phone and probably with it's other models too, but the issue is not surfacing. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND TO BUY A PIXEL AGAIN.

I'm actually giving my iPhone 13 Pro to my step daughter and considering the 5a in September 2022. Primarily for the rear fingerprint reader. I have been a loyal Pixel fanboy for years, but I skipped the 4 because it went to face unlock, and then the 6 comes out with the front reader. My very well loved 3XL was actually broken at that point so I bought a 6. Two weeks later it made me so mad I sent it back and I was so upset about it that I gave iPhone another chance (yeah. that bad). iPhone is even worse in a lot of ways, but just staying on the main issue, it does face unlock but STILL REQUIRES ME TO SWIPE UP FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN (sorry), which is a PITA with one hand. Looking around, every poll comes back in clear favor of rear-facing readers, but Apple, Google, and Samsung all just ignore it. They have to see that people want it, and it's no doubt cheaper than something like the front reader on the 6, so WHY? Do any of them even do R&D anymore, or does someone just draw up some specs and email it to the manufacturers?

First and my last phone pixel. Worst phone I ever have. Phone's heating up very bad and shutdown the LTE signal, becomes very laggy. Nice camera shots but becomes useless when you take continuous shots as it heats up.

I've been thinking about getting a Pixel 5a for a while now. Love both the software and hardware, but the only thing that's kind of holding me back right now is the long term performance of that Snapdragon 765 chipset.
I've also taken into consideration the S21 FE.
