When Tech Companies Lie to Us...

????

Tech company lies exist on a spectrum. How far is too far? (Did you know 1-inch camera sensors are not 1 inch?) I agree, what a lot of people don't understand about the sensor debate is that it's based on a photography standard rooted in older technology—similar to how the auto industry still uses horsepower as a reference. Does anyone really compare a car to a horse anymore? No, but we keep the terminology because it's a reference most people understand. In the photography world, most people know what a "1-inch sensor" means and don't see it as deceptive. When manufacturers highlight a "1-inch sensor" as a selling point on phones or compact cameras, it's meant to distinguish the camera from those with the more common 1/2.3 sensor, and there is a huge difference. The 1/2.3 sensor, like the "1-inch" sensor, is also based on outdated tech and doesn’t represent a precise physical measurement either. So overall, I wouldn't say this is a lie; it's just that most people misunderstand the terminology.

2024 is happening and still, things don't look good for the Roadster.
@brudman80 Says:
Crazy to measure modern logistics with 30 even 40 year old measurements. You might as well only sell life jackets to people that can swim. lol it the government does this already. So here we are in this room again
@glentonrichards Says:
It’s 2024 and the Roadster still hasn’t come out. At this point I think a new Roadster is never coming out. 😭 Great video. Would love to see an new video on this subject as it feels like tech companies are lying even more now than they were back then. 😣
@niba4cob Says:
it is 2024. Where is my Roadster?
@jazlally4144 Says:
It's 2024 and Still Not Here
@rickdeckard9810 Says:
Where's the Roadster 2, where are the the Tesla Semis, boring tunnels, Robotaxis, solar roofs, where are the neuralinks, robots, 25K Teslas.
@khubaibahmad2155 Says:
take a shot everytime he says One Inch Sensor
@wildimpo Says:
Dodge claim's to be faster than the roadster, with the 170 which is really a joke!
@prof.crastinator Says:
Elon lying? Whaaaaaaaat, no! Must be a day of the week.
@matthewa2724 Says:
I like this healty critisism.! Keep it up :)
@DaveWasHere112 Says:
If a Tesla can go from 0 to 60 in even 3 seconds, I do not care about the SECOND difference, it's still impressive as heck!
@danielmartini3229 Says:
not familiar with the nomenclature "one inch sensor" but digital "full frame sensors" like in professional cameras are indeed 24x36mm. 24mm is 0.94"
@RedLine_Renesis Says:
What is fascinating is people waiting for a tesla, period. Thinking they're environmentally friendly. I'd rather keep my drivers car like 93 RX-7 FD and 05 RX-8 and potentially Iconic SP. Speed is old fashioned these days. Many cars are fast, but are they fun?
@M4W07 Says:
13:10 I mean who/on what basis, gets to decide how bad the lie is? These companies are clever, they don't lie, rather subtly misguide. They should all together stop it, with the catchy lines and putting a tiny asterisk. That's not how tech should progress, however can't do anything about it :/
@requiemdylon9136 Says:
It's funny that Airpower failed because they have cheap multi charging stands now that just have several qi points on it. no reason to use one qi cell
@stylore Says:
floppy drives is the mandela effect LOL
@META4Music Says:
I feel like the sensor size thing continues to go on because if I'm a company putting out a sensor that is .63" then I'd be at a disadvantage by saying the actual size of the sensor when I could say it's a 1" sensor and it's the same size as all the companies claiming theirs is a 1' sensor, if that makes sense 😅
@DuzBee Says:
This video won’t age well, you will inevitably end up humiliating yourself. Elon accomplishes everything he has even set out to do, sometimes delayed, but he gets it done.
@stormiezz Says:
why is like button flashing rainbow at 4:12
@suntanironman Says:
It’s really nothing new. Anybody remember the Sega Genesis “Blast Processing”? The Sega Genesis had it, while the Super Nintendo did not. What is “Blast Processing”? I don’t know. Makes things go faster or… something. Doesn’t matter! Shut up! Point is, it’s better that what the Super Nintendo has and everybody on the school playground will argue about it throughout much of the 90s. 😂😂😂
@rowen898 Says:
Computing and controls still uses the term master and slave. Its a pretty archaic term but who's got the time to change all engineering text in the world. Maybe AI could do it, but if it messes up thats a lot of data loss.
@ascended1924 Says:
2023 and still no idea when roadster is coming.
@Novartus Says:
I think he talked a little to much about the 1-Inch thing…

@Bluebrain Says:
@11:20 the icon/graphics even state, that the diagonal is 1 inch! 😠
@georgesmith9178 Says:
@Mrwhosetheboss Well said. In fact many companies deliberately make products more complex than they need to be so that consumers cannot repair, upgrade, or maintain them on their own - that is how they make A LOT of money.
@totoyao6132 Says:
Elon Musk released Roadster is because he wants to push stock price to go up
@Igbon5 Says:
I can generate 1000 lb-ft of torque too. Get a ten-foot lever and pull up with 100lb force and there you go. Power is another matter.
@Igbon5 Says:
The more you look into Musk the more you see a lying charlatan.
@kodizhuk Says:
interesting, newer though about it this way
@ntt2k Says:
The 1-inch sensor is definitely deceiving, especially with the DJI clip here showing a diagonal line across the sensor
@michelleadam5032 Says:
.
@eldowns Says:
Wow so the Roadster is actually a giant piece of crap car. Short TSLA to 0 baby. /s
@vanderneut Says:
Your videos are so good, man. Really admire the quality of your work. And this one is also very interesting. Thanks!
@MVHens Says:
Metric units are case-sensitive. nm is not the same as Nm. nm stands for nanometer, a very small length. Nm stands for Newtonmeter, a unit of torque. So at 3:42, you should show 10,000 Nm.
@5thhorsman Says:
so they did what you said they should do and you're still bitching in a vid about it . what da actual fuk are you going on about besides nothing ? I clicked on this knowing it was click bait and I wasn't disappointed
@EPICMAN-ld8oq Says:
What kind of fucking tires is this car going to have with 3700 ft lbs
@MarkMash17 Says:
Should've mentioned 4k resolution
@hazmat5749 Says:
I think with Tesla the case is that the timescales are hopelessly optimistic. I'm sure one day there will be a Tesla roadster / robotaxi / optimus bot: we just need to multiply Elon time by 3 then add a year on for good measure.
@cha0ticneutralbigs Says:
Whoever did the captions, great job, one thing though, the captions have a 5 second delay which is very distracting and inaccessible to many
@WE.R.NOT.OK.W.U.TRMP_GTFO Says:
Dude, you have no idea what it takes to engineer a car that fast, and make it affordable as well. I'm not a Elon Musk fan,(he's costing me money right now ><)but I don't see wtf you're upset about. It takes time to launch something that performs properly, and many issues don't show up until a ton of regulatory safety, and performance testing is done, which is costly, in time, and money. You'd be crying about it being released too soon, otherwise. ALL car companies smudge the truth, it's not exclusive to "tech" companies, that doesn't make it right, but that's the way sales go. Also, it was just announced to be rolled out, you can go throw your money at it right now, if you want. I will be interested to see first true tests, some of the claims are a bit excessive for the current state of EV tech. I don't expect them to be on point, I'm just curious how far off they are, even if they're close, it's going to be one crazy little car! Many products are changed, or parts swapped out during initial release, as new contracts are drawn up, and expire, resources limited due to world events, so many variables, usually it's a cost reduction issue, keeping their product in range of their target demographic. I like your channel, but I don't like when people are petty af. People suck, get over it, hold them accountable, but don't target an area that's no more guilty than any other, unless you have concrete proof of some shady shit, done on purpose to screw us.

You make a video on Elon musk lying as a surprising thing? :) he has not delivered anything he has promised, ever, and all his ventures are financial disasters supported just by fundraising and grants. He is the biggest scammer in the world
