Why nobody is talking about Samsung self repair program? And not only for phones, also for appliances.
@RockG.o.d Says:
Regulations need to be made so ssd drives are no longer soldered in. That is going to be the one thing which breaks most Macs and most people don’t have the skill or tools to un solder those chips and replace them.
@MROKJIA Says:
I’ve searched this video to comment after I got my iPhone 13 Pro Max stolen. A lot of the after markets iPhone chips, motors etc. comes from stolen iPhones. Just yesterday I got to know newer iPhones cannot be jailborken or made new without user passwords, I used to support right to repair, now I don’t, Apple is stopping this supply chain of illegal iPhones parts from their end.

This program didn't age well lmfao. This is actually a slap in the face and is not real right to repair, it's more of a loophole to avoid being sued.
@richmondessandoh4982 Says:
The parts will cost more compared to buying a used one

I love this development
@JacobP81 Says:
So does this mean they stopped putting booby traps in there devices that disable the device when a part is replaced?
@Mcorpmike Says:
your conclusions are wrong they drove up the price and made you dependent of them with the software.........if you pay for something it should be yours and you should be allowed to fix it the way you want, they may never lock software or make products fail and thats what they do.
@pinkSid--- Says:
Please raise awareness about this and force companies to change, influential people like you are virutally our only hope. Or else we will literally get fucked over by the companies due to our collective igornace...
@Arctificial Says:
now they just have to remove software locks, or renew their certified repair shop system

I just found out from watching military channels, apparently, apple's stance on right to repair, is merely copying what the US government does to other countries who purchased military hardware from the US. So there's that.

@MrCochran Says:
Is this going to do anything for businesses like mine trying to repair a 13 without losing facial recognition. I may have to get a storefront and apply for Apple Certification.
@legendyt8608 Says:
a right to repairer can fix any type of pc or phones cause apple just does not have the iq to repair pc or phones . SO ALWAYS REPAIR YOUR PHONE AND PC TO A RIGHT TO REPAIRER
@RandomUser_Here Says:
Is it truly bad practice, I just recently got my phone screen "fixed". Which then I got it back improperly placed so the screen would have pixel bleed. Had it redone then they fucked up the sim reader, which they claim is on the otherside and they didn't have to touch to replace the screen and got it checked again and then they stripped the screws at the bottom so Apple can't even fix it, even if they wanted to. The apple certificate isn't that bad a regulation for the mass unprofessional jobs done that horrible messes phones up.
@noahscool9 Says:
I hope we can change the ram in macs now
@sirdark1381 Says:
It sounds good but the price is going to be expensive. I bet a lot of people are going to long screw damage their logic boards.
@kbecks123 Says:
cracked my macbook pro screen a few months ago and sent it in for repair, they came back and told me i had a 3rd party part in the laptop (I purchased it refurbished so i wasnt surpirsed) and in order to repair the cracked screen, they also needed to replace this part (which had nothing to do with the screen). the price more than doubled for this repair and they refused to repair the screen otherwise. absolutely ridiculous.
@happy_thinking Says:
Sadly just PR for now. Like Rossman said it doesn't take a year and a half to do this even 6 months are too much, but when you really don't wanna do something even 5 years are too short. It's good that both legislative pressure and competition pressure keeps increasing otherwise companies will keep doing whatever is best for their shareholders. P.S Framework laptop is a modular fully repairable laptop.
@kaylag5043 Says:
Pretty much every phone now has prevented users from accessing the inside of the phone. I remember before 2018 or so, all my Samsung phones had removable backs. This allowed me to access the battery, so when it was overheating I could take it out and it would cool down faster without damaging any other part of the phone. I could access my SIM and SD cards without a pin as well which was much less annoying. And when I dropped my tablet and disloged the graphics card, I was able to just take the back off and put it back in place and it was fixed. What I fixed myself in 10 minutes would now take me at least a couple of hours, and a few hundred dollars.
@ErmIDK19 Says:
I don't think people should be congratulating apple on doing something that should always have been available and to a much larger extent
@michlangelo2849 Says:
See the Steamdeck and IFixIt.. I would hope though Apple would build some kind of Fairphone..
@Sitheral Says:
The very idea that you couldnt do that is stupid as hell and honestly, probably anyone doing that kind of stuff daily other than apple can do it cheaper and better, so yeah, no wonder they did anything they could to prevent it.
@constantinosgreek12 Says:
It's definitely a step in the right direction but it was likely done to get them out of problems. If they really wanna support right to repair they need to offer up all the parts they use along with any schematics that could be needed for repairs. You ever been on a parts website for vehicles? See how they're laid out? Apple needs something like that if they actually care for right to repair.
@ahmadvlog9721 Says:
I like them all
@ahmadvlog9721 Says:
your videos are great
@MH-is7eu Says:
IMO, it is nothing great or good step for the industry in general. This is something that shouldnt happened in the first place. Apple make this as a PR stunt “oh Apple is a good guy for having us repair OUR OWN thing which we can do it anyway on other brands.” These restrictions shouldnt even exist.
@travyysworld Says:
iFix it all the way. They sell parts and tools in packages (with repair documentation/video guide)
@ErikaAlejandraGonzalez Says:
I have a 2012 MacBook Pro, which works fine but I wanna get a new one, well… wanted* my plan was to buy a new MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and a SSD256gb and then later add more RAM and more space by myself, because buying a 16GB RAM and SSD1T MacBook Pro is ridiculously expensive, and I thought it would be cheaper if I made the changes myself. But I found out that I can’t, so I might as well just build a Windows, even though I’m a huge apple fan and loved to have the whole ecosystem, also not a really big fan of Windows, but there no more I can do ☹️ I hope this changes…

Imagine buying a 50k+ car, and the manufacturer 🌟 allowing 🌟 you to replace your tires or repair a cracked windshield, but if you burnt out your clutch you'll have to buy a new car or f*ck off

@zackinblack Says:
Apple still controls the majority in the sale of parts and tools. Apple can then set prices accordingly. Apple will most likely release phone with new tooling that are copyrighted and needing tools that are only available via Apple. This will ensure maximum profits and control 3rd parties even more. Now that apple can serialize parts and ensure profits they will control and manipulate the market further. This is a terrible idea.
