5:22 Assuming your work is 10 miles far from your home its cheaper to take taxi everyday to work and back then just the depreciation of the BMW will cost for the first 3 years.., with maintenance, gas/electricity, insurance etc. it probably will be always cheaper to take the taxi than driving the BMW...

It was very uncomfortable to watch video near others because music is too loud compared to your voice. I had to hold volume buttons and smooth that manually

another nice video but I would have liked a conclusion since the video was called "$20K vs $2,000,000 Hybrid Car!"

3:01 When you get to 100 in the eco score your prize is about 40K per year in cash. From the times you didn’t have to fill the tank. That’s pretty much the perfect scenario; and what every company has been trying to achieve; however almost impossible as it also needs the driver to make an effort and drive perfectly. But it gets you back all the money you had allocated towards gas for the entire year; A’s you’ll end up refuelling once a month at most

My wife owned a Ford Volt for around town driving. (a True plug-in Hybrid with about 80 miles range on battery) We sold it about 6 months later, with the same tank of gas we put in the tank when we bought it. 80 miles was sufficient for in-town use. Ford did a competent job on the design, but it cost too much for the periodic maintenance required for the gas drive train that I never used. So I bought a BEV. It was a Tesla, but there are many other fine BEV's and the maintenance costs are much lower than either gas or hybrids. I will never buy a car with an exhaust system again, because it bothers me to use 80% of the energy to make heat and exhaust fumes. Hybrids are a temporary creation of marketeers in the auto industry who want to keep a dying industry alive--especially Japanese auto makers like Toyota. Keep your eye on the new low cost BEV's, and when the next generation of batteries comes along it will be the end of both straight gas cars, and hybrids. Can't come soon enough, IMO. IMO, most modern hybrids actually use the electrics primarily to improve acceleration, sorta like the McLaren. They are just efficient gas cars with a bit better acceleration. Even the plug-in hybrids, because many people stop plugging them in after a while. To me, they make no sense. How many hybrid airplanes have both reciprocating engines and jets. (actually there was one--a giant bomber in the early jet era) How many locomotives have both diesels and steam? Why are there no hybrid gas-electric light airplanes? (that's a homework assignment) Love your reviews. Rational, balanced, and informed. Keep up the good work!

I was thinking about hybrids and I have a question. Why not add a bigger battery and smaller engine? Imagine an EV that can do 100+ miles on electric OR 50kmiles on ICE engine. With the engine acting as a backup to the EV. If you run out of Charge, you switch to fuel which gives you enough room to get to a charging station. It would remove the range anxiety?

My dream car. Toyota Corolla Hybrid.😊🎉
@stephenlaw9827 Says:
In the UK EV cars are not being bought by customers in the showrooms. PCP and similar finance deals support the EV market. Then add in misleading range information, weight and cost and many people have come to the conclusion that pure EV cars are a way off being fit to be sold. Many manufacturers are walking into multi million pounds / dollar claims in relation to false range data and that's without thinking about battery degradation. Petrol Hybrid is what we need.

On my country in the middle of Europe it makes zero sense to buy an expensive hybrid the same way it makes zero sense to buy an expensive gas one because BOTH are gone by 2035 and if I'm buying a car that costs over 100k then I expect to be able to drive it for more than 10 years, ideally 15 to 20.
@SumoPoweredAlanLi Says:
Remember the McLaren F1? This is the car with centre driver seat and 2 side passenger seats, and it’s the greatest car in the world. The true spiritual successor of the F1 is Gordon Murray T.50.

I have been driving EVS since 2017 and hybrids before that. My Model Y Performance does 0-60 in just over 3 seconds, costs about 60 cents a gallon and was mine for $48k. Very happy. At 67 with a dodgy back, not sure I could get out of the Speedtail :)
